Cold or food sensitivity?

Recommended Posts

Hi all-

I really thought I was having a terrible gluten free sensitivity Saturday- see post- http://forum.whole9life.com/topic/17476-gluten-free-intro-feel-flu-symptoms-and-bad-dreams/#entry185438

But that was Saturday and today is Monday and I have a pretty bad sore throat and still feel like hell. Lots of people are out sick at work, how do I know if all these were flu/cold symptoms or if I'm sensitive to gluten free foods.

So confused. Should I do a new test in a week?

My guess is that you are experiencing whatever has been going around and not a reaction to gluten-free grains. It would be best to wait until you are well and then test reintroducing gluten-free grains again.

Hi tom, thanks! Lol I think so too. And I'm super happy it's a cold, because I might want the gluten free grains sometimes. I ate the grains on Saturday and a clue it's Monday and I'm getting worse. I can't regulate my body temp, sore throat is worsening and I have body aches and pains. So the fact that Sunday got worse and Monday even worse tells me I think it's just a cold/flu. I'll rest tommorrow. Any whole 30 tips for curing this faster?

I used to swig a little apple cider vinegar as medicine years ago. A friend told me it helped and I would take a swig every day I did not feel well for several years. Maybe it helped, but it is hard to say when a cold goes away if it was just a matter of time or the vinegar.

The big thing is to rest and drink plenty of fluids - water, herbal tea.

Thanks I made a big pot of chicken soup with all the vegetables I had and will have your suggestion of herbal tea. Huh haven't heard the apple cider vinegar one but I wouldn't be surprised as it works Great hair conditioner when mixed with equal parts water.
