djanderson63
So I did the whole 30 plus 3 days and finished on March 21. Felt amazing and lost 19 lbs. A friends birthday came up and I celebrated/splurged. I have since restarted round 2 of Whole 30 on Wed. 3/26. Yesterday 3 days in and today I have felt absolutely awful. Dizziness, headache and brain fog. I had it for awhile during round 1. On day 15 -18. Is this normal? Did I completely blow all my hard work and now have to go through this horrible phase of detox again? I will never do this to myself, ever!!! Lesson learned. I didn't slowly reintroduce forbidden food I went all in and I am paying for it right now. I am also not a big salt user as in I do not salt anything. Do I need to add more in and if so how much? I got a bad calf cramp the other night as well and haven't had one of those in a very long time either. One more thing I had a metabolic typing done and the lady who did it said I should only eat sweet potatoes 3x a week and fruit like apples and berries 1x daily. I had this done before I decided to do the Whole 30 challenge. Should I follow the Whole 30 meal plan and incorporate more starchy carbs or try to combine both. I just want this feeling to go away and never come back. Thanks for any help.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted March 30, 2014 Moderators Share Posted March 30, 2014 Extreme dizziness is not part of a proper Whole30. Dizziness suggests you might need more water, more food, more salt. You should salt your food liberally during a Whole30. There is no need to restrict salt when you are not eating processed foods and you may not be getting enough. Some people get headaches and brain fog when they don't eat enough. Losing 19 pounds in 30 days is a large amount for most people to lose, so you may need to revisit the meal template and consider whether you are eating enough: http://whole9life.com/book/ISWF-Meal-Planning-Template.pdf I consider metabolic typing and advice based upon it complete nonsense. You might be sick independent of what you have been eating or not eating lately. Eating healthy cannot protect us from all the bad stuff.
djanderson63
Thank you. I have been struggling getting all 3 meals in at times. I do crossfit at 9 in the morning. Most times I do not wake up until 8, grab a quick 2-3 oz of protein, after my workout around 10:30 I have my post wod fuel. Then around 11:30 I finally have meal #1, then a snack at 3 and then meal #2 around 6. I am thinking I need to get up earlier and eat meal #1 at 7 which gives me 2 hours before my workout to have some food in my system, post wod fuel 10:30, meal #2 11:30, snack at 3 if hungry, then meal #3 at 6. I will definitely start salting my food more liberally All these years we are told salt is bad for you so I cut down on it. I do only use sea salt when I do salt. I am not always where I should be on my H20. I Have a pitcher that holds 100 oz. going to start using that to help with h20. Thanks again for the help. I really feel this Whole 30 challenge has changed my life for the better and want to incorporate the principles into a lifestyle form myself.
