AllyRe22
I recently found Golden Star coconut milk at a local wal-mart that says the only ingredients are coconut milk and water, but it has twice as much fat per serving as the Thai Kitchen kind I was buying (which has guar gum). Does anyone know why there is such a huge difference in fat per serving? The serving sizes are the same: 1/3 cup. Thai kitchen has 11g fat and Golden Star has 22g fat. Thanks! missmary
coconut milk contains fat and water. More water per serving=less fat per serving. If you want a version of coconut milk that is "lighter" then add some water. If you want a version that has more fat, refrigerate until it separates and scoop out the fat or pour off the water. AllyRe22
That makes sense, thanks for the quick answer. So when its recommended to have 1/4 to 1/2 can per meal, does it matter which kind I have?
missmary
the whole30 fat recommendations are a minimum. If you find 1/4cup to be satiating and last you until the next meal, that's fine. If you need 1/2 cup also fine. It might change depending on what other fats you have in a particular meal or day, and also on activity levels.
