Supernatural butter???

I am new to the Whole 30 and have a lot to learn.  I am wondering about Supernatural butter and if this must be clarified to use.  My son has advised me to add equal amounts of the supernatural butter and coconut oil to my coffee as a replacement for cream.  He says it gives him a super energy boost.

As an alternative I found a toasted coconut almond milk that does not have added sugar and am wondering if that would be allowable as part of the whole 30 food choices?

I really don't want to wreck my whole 30 on the first day!

Butter is not Whole30 compliant. Yes, you must clarify it, in order to use it on a Whole30.

The toasted coconut almond milk would work if it doesn't have any sweetener, vanilla extract, carrageenan or other non-compliant Whole30 ingredients.

The ingredient list says only Almond Milk, (filtered water & Almonds) and coconut cream.  Now I am seeing the small print.  Down below this it says contains less than 2% of the folowing:  Sunflower Lecthin, Sea Salt, Potassium Citrate, Natural Flavors, and here it is ....Gellan Gum, Carrageenan, vitamin/mineral blend, Monk Fruit extract.  I find it hard to believe that that little bit of Carrageenan would be so harmful considering all the rest of the ingredients seem to be very good for you.

What I am really interested in in the Butter/Coconut oil/coffee combo.  When my son first suggested it I thought there was no way this could be good for you with Butter and oil.  I have to say I after clarifying the butter and adding it along with the coconut oil to my coffee this morning I am not missing the cream at all.

It may be hard to believe, but it is true.

"Monk Fruit Extract" is a form of sweetener, so even without carrageenan, this product would not be permitted on the whole30. Manufacturers put information in tiny print to try to convince you they are not important, but in reality these ingredients can make a huge difference in how you feel over the long term. Try 30 days without them and see if this is true for you.

I've never tried my coffee with butter, but I make lattés at home with coconut oil and coconut milk. I've never added butter, bc well... mostly I'm too lazy to clarify my own butter. Haha. I am picky about my coffee (ok ok maybe snobby is a better word.) and I love using my Moka pot to make my own coffee drinks. What I make taste pretty similar to a full at latte. esp if I shake on a bit on cinnamon! One major thing I would suggest is thoroughly mixing the coconut oil/ butter in, otherwise what you get is black coffee with a oil slick on top. I've heard some people use a blender and spin it up to mix it, but I'm too lazy to clean my blender every time, so I just take my milk frother (basically a mini stick blender) and mix it up for a bit. Right now my milk frother is currently broken so I've just been taking a small whisk and whipping the oil and a bit of the warmed milk. Works alright. Leaves a small oil slick, but I almost like that? Haha but I also could eat coconut oil by the spoonful!

I'd say give it a try and see if you like it! Then tell me if it would be worth it to clarify the butter, please  :) Happy coffee making!
