Day 22 Help - feeling ucky

Recommended Posts

I am on day 23 and am all of a sudden (over the last 3 or 4 days) feeling fairly bloated, my clothes are tight again (I felt great and was down almost a size, now everything is tight again).  I have made it through the 23 days fairly easily, didn't have much of a sugar dragon and have been very strictly gluten free for 9 years due to celiac disease.   I have really benefited from the meal template and cutting out the evening snacking - I have dinner by 6:30 and nothing but herbal tea after that.

I have followed the program to a T - following the meal template (I even learned to eat before running early in the morning, that was a huge accomplishment) and been 100% compliant with my food.

My sleep never really improved on the program and my eczema has been broken out fairly consistently over the last 2 weeks.  My energy is generally good but my runs have been really flat and sluggish.  I have been consistently having sweet potatoes (2 x a day) to make sure I am getting enough carbish veggies due to my higher level of cardio exercise.

The only thing I can think of is my hormone patch - I had to have a total hysterectomy at 40 so I have been on a low dose of estrogen.  My hormone levels have felt really out of wack, especially over the last 2 weeks.  We are in a really high stress time - selling a house, work is in high season, kids in multiple sports, just lost a parent and are taking care of another - so I'm sure that affects everything but I'm not sure there is anything I can do about any of those for now.

Just wanted to hear thoughts from anyone that might have experienced, I'm feeling discouraged. : (

Have you checked out the timeline? http://whole30.com/2013/08/revised-timeline/.  Not all of us follow it exactly you could be a week or so behind. Don't get discouraged this is happening to me today and I am on day 10. Keep going you really need to do this for 30 days. You've come this far and only have one more week. You Can Do It!

I think you are on to something with the hormones. All the stressors you have in your life would be enough to disrupt healthy rhythms. I don't know anything more you can do than to just keep doing your best and counting on stressors beginning to fade soon.

I would encourage you to take a look at any foods that you've added (or been eating more consistently) prior to the bloating.  Many folks have issues with nuts, and some with raw vegetables. Others find that they can't tolerate coconut well (and it often manifests in skin irritation or bloating).  Just a few things to look at... :)
