DeannaDaniels
Ingredients are chicken stock, salt, carrots, cabbage, onions, celery, celery leaves, parsley. My question is the first ingredient. Do I need to Question What Is in that or do I take it at face value of chicken and water? Thanks
jent103
Is this an actual box of chicken stock/broth, on which they listed chicken stock as an ingredient? I'd probably take it at face value myself, on the assumption that they're legally required to list ingredients.
DeannaDaniels
Yes, surprisingly it's Swanson cooking stock. I got it at Walmart. It just seems too good to be true but thanks!
Robin Strathdee
The best way to tell is to pick up a box of regular Swanson chicken stock. The ingredients in that will most likely be the same as the broth used in their cooking stock.
aliciadunn
Yes, surprisingly it's Swanson cooking stock. I got it at Walmart. It just seems too good to be true but thanks! Is this it? Does it mention dextrose on the label? http://www.nutritionix.com/swanson/chicken-cooking-stock
DeannaDaniels
That seems like it would be it but it neither mentions dextrose or the fact it is less sodium than regular. Hopefully this is something else because I used a very small amount in a recipe.
DeannaDaniels
If I knew how to post a picture here I could take a pic if the label
Tina R
It could be that the dextrose was added with the salt (some salt has dextrose in it). You might want to avoid this for the rest of your whole30 but I don't think is calls for a restart. Do you have Imagine chicken stock where you are. I have found their chicken stock to be compliant. Read the labels in case they changed their formula. Their beef and vegetable stocks are not compliant.
