So I weigh almost 10 pounds more than I did two years ago and I have been eating Whole30-style for 4 years. The 10 pounds is mostly muscle in my chest, back, and arms because I have been lifting weights more steadily for the past few years.

Obviously you seem unhappy about gaining weight, but you are going to have to give us a lot more information to put it into context.

Sorry...quick sneaky post at work

I feel better post-whole30, but due to an eating disorder I genuinely have a phobia of putting weight on.

I didn't exercise during the 30 days but didn't have any slip ups. I think I ate more fruit than I should have and never fully kicked the sugar dragon. I also occasionally splurged on nut butters (food without brakes, however difficult anniversaries of my best friend's death to deal with during it also)

Tempted to do another whole30. I am also starting to run again as I am training for a 10k. However I'm going to Paris on the 13th, so I think maintaining whole30 eating/not putting weight on will be really hard

Welcome to the world of figuring out how to ride your own bike in post-Whole30 land!  :)

Maybe start with returning to Whole30 eating for the next 9-10 days.  Create your own rules of how you will off-road while in Paris, enjoy your trip, and then return to Whole30 eating when you get back.

If it would help you to log your activity along the way, create a log in the Your Post Whole30 Log area.

Patience, grasshopper.  :)

You mentioned some changes you might want to make next time around, like exercise and cutting out fruit and nut butters. Maybe you experiment with those changes after your return from Paris?

I think I'll do a 9 day whole-30 until I go (already failed today  ), then just be a bit more lax in Paris. To be honest I'm allergic to gluten, wheat, barley oats and dairy anyway...so only certain things will creep back in on holiday!

As you proceed, I would caution you to be gentle with the language you choose for yourself.  For example, you didn't fail, you made a choice. Try talking to yourself as you would talk to a close friend. Bring some self-compassion forward.

It sounds like your body is healthier at a higher weight.  The fears of weight gain are the eating disorder talking -- shut 'em down!  Remember, you are so much more than the number on the inside of your pants.

the thought of being healthier at a higher weight fills me with dread, how bad is that if my brain works like that :(

I think your scale should join my scale. I sent mine to the darkest bowels of hell, and I've been far happier since! When you have an eating disorder, your mind tells you lies about your body. I personally don't like to give it ammunition to use against me, and that's what the scale does best. I won't even let my doctor tell me what the scale says - unless I'm morbidly obese, it really doesn't matter.

Enjoy Paris!

Well I don't have scales at home for this reason, but they bought some where I work to weigh stuff, and the temptation was too much...especially since I haven't weighed myself post-whole 30. Made me feel pretty crappy.
