bubyelupus
I am starting on Monday, April 7th and can't wait. It has been a long time coming. I have a daughter that I just weaned from breastfeeding and finally feel like now is the time to get this diet cleaned up in hopes of helping the joint issues, along with a million other sypmotoms related to my Lupus (insomnia, hair loss, red eyes, heart burn...). I have been on prednisone on and off for the last 5 years and it is time to get off that, and hopefully not onto anything else. I am very hopeful and feel that cleaning up my diet can do enough to help me stay off meds. I have already cleared most toxins from my (and my familys) daily life, so I know this will be a great (if not the best) step of all to help me feel better and be a good momma for my two kids. I have tried similar diet changes in the past, but after having fertility problems got pregnant each time just a couple weeks into the diet. That right there should show me how much healthier it is for my body. I found being pregnant and breast feeding to be symptom-free, so I shamefully was unable to commit to a diet change. Now that I am done, I am so ready to go and hope to have the will power. The hubby is doing it with me, mainly to lose the weight he gained during my pregnancies:) I am not doing it for weight-loss, but if that is a bonus I am ok with that. I just want to be a healthier, better version of myself:) Excited to have this forum and all of your support, as well as hopefully being supportive to you along the way! Jared Newman
Hi, I am starting on April 7 too. Good luck to you and your hubby!
Inlander
Hello, I'm starting on April 7 too. I've been doing lots of reading, recipe research and grocery list making. I'm excited! I'm sorry to hear about your lupus and all the unpleasant side effects. I have painful osteoarthritis in both my knees and have been told I'm 2-3 years away from a knee replacement. Yikes! I may not be able to undo the damage but I'm certain I can prevent more, and relieve the pressure by taking off some weight and strengthening the surrounding muscles. Looking forward to checking in with you all starting April 7.
hockeymom
I'm starting on 7 APR too! I have been trying to plan meals in advance so that I can put together a good shopping list for this weekend's big shop. I am really excited about this, and can't wait to start reaping the benefits! I have several health concerns and reasons for doing it, but the biggest one is my addiction to sugar. I have family history of diabetes so this is really important for me. My co-workers joke about my "hangry" moods, which isn't really funny when I sit and think about the science behind it. I play hockey and I run, and I am hoping this nutritional reset will help me improve there as well. Let's do this!!

Inlander
Well I did my shopping and planned some meals. I take my lunch to work every day and to make it easy for week 1, will have salad most days this week. I'll find a recipe and make some soup mid-week. For breakfast, I'll make a big frittatta and some egg/veggie muffins to take to work for breakfast. Weirdly enough, I'm more worried about giving up my daily yogurt than sugar. Steph123
I'll be starting my second Whole 30 tomorrow too! I'll be cooking and planning my meals later today. The first time I did this (in January) it helped so much with general inflammation and pain I was struggling with. I hope you find it is a tremendous help for you! hockeymom
I did my big shop, chopped veggies to eat with eggs after my morning workouts, and did a pork tenderloin in the crock pot today to pick off of this week. Salad lunches for me too - with eggs, tuna, avocados, etc. Really excited for this!
Inlander
Steph123, that's encouraging to hear! If I can get any measure of relief from my knee pain, I'll be thrilled.

Tayleo
Hi! I had to restart so I chose today. I accidentally ate soy after going to a friends house. They tried to make a compliant meal for and told me everything...except what the pork was marinated in. Soy sauce. And didn't taste it but asked half way through. Le sigh. I was 12 days in. I kinda needed a restart anyway... So here's to day

hockeymom
Holy cow, I know I'm supposed to be filling up at mealtime and avoiding snacks, but eating this much in one sitting is going to take some getting used to! I expected to feel hungry while my body adjusted, but I really haven't. Big plate of eggs w/veggies and avocado for breakfast today really filled my belly. Today I brought that shredded pork tenderloin for lunch. I wanted a sauce but had to use what was on hand so I wound up doing cider vinegar w/cayenne pepper sauce. It's spicy and vinegary - very tasty! Also I brought half a smashed sweet potato drizzled with coconut milk and cinnamon - tastes like dessert!! I don't have room for my salad w/egg right now but I'll try again later. How is everyone feeling?
Inlander
I'm on day 7 and noticed this morning I woke up easily, very energized and well rested. I'm sleeping great. Days 3 and 4 were rocky - I felt exhausted and headachy but maybe I'm turning a corner now. I wonder if I'm eating too much at meals, I'm definitely not hungry between meals. I observed that I don't snack at home but feel inclined to snack a lot at work. Habit, stress, boredom? I'll make a point of really trying to pinpoint my emotions when I get a snack attack at work. Hope everyone else is feeling good too.
hockeymom
Inlander - I am the same, not so tempted to snack at home but at work I can sit and munch on cashews/almonds/grapes. Not the worst thing, but according to ISWF, I should not feel "hungry" at that time. I have always been a grazer though, so for me eating big meals spaced out comes with a learning curve. I have been experiencing hunger at night before bed too - at first I thought maybe it was just the dessert habit (sugar dragon) but I'm talking actual stomach-growling hunger pangs. Last night I made a cup of decaf chai and heated some coconut milk to put in it. It took the edge off and then I went to bed. Happy Day 8 everyone! Sif
Today food haunts me.. I just want a pizza and candy and this and that and just all the things I can not have!!
Inlander
I felt temporarily haunted by food yesterday, Sif Hauksdottir! I had to make an extra trip to the grocery store to pick up a prescription and suddenly noted ALL.THE.THINGS I'm not eating - pizza, fried chicken, ice cream, wine wine wine, crackers and cheese - and I felt a little sad. But I didn't cave in and that's the important thing. I was able to remind myself why I'm doing this and that if I really, really want those things they'll still be there at the end of my 30 days. Except (sob!) the Easter candy.
hockeymom
Hang in there ladies, there is a reason this is a 30-day program. Let's keep on putting a red X on each day that's a success, and soon enough we'll have an unbroken string of 30 red X'es. That right there is an accomplishment and will be something to celebrate. With spa pedicures, not food of course.

Inlander
Disaster! My husband had a terrible stomach flu last weekend, in fact ended up in the ER due to dehydration. Guess who spent all night throwing up sick with the flu? Me! Any tips for staying on program? So far I've just had sparkling water today as it soothes my stomach but I have to eat eventually. Maybe I'll just stick to broth today.
