liberalinz
I have a long history of binge eating at night. This is a posting for all of you out there trying to use Whole30 as a way to address this specific issue. I lasted 9 days on Whole 30 last month and it was revolutionary. I fell hard off the wagon through two things- eating endless nuts and not being able to abide by the rule about night eating. I've tried almost everything over the years to not start snacking at 8:30 pm, which leads to about 25-75% of my daily food consumption. This time, this is going to be the focus of the whole endeavor. I didn't find it that hard to change everything in my diet- EXCEPT for that!!! I've learned that you can still binge on healthy food- and that if you have a 20 year history of night eating, this is going to be the hardest piece- above and beyond awkward restaurant ordering, tortilla-less tacos, and spending way too much on odd things like aminos! Here's the deal. We eat late at night because we are tired, we want pleasure to reward ourselves for lasting through a busy day of work, commuting, housework, parenting. Accordingly, I need to replace the eating pattern with something even more pleasurable- but less destructive. This time, I'm trying meditation, "one-on-one" time with my spouse (wink wink), good novels, relaxing baths, and an insane 9 pm bedtime. The goal is to deeply reorient my relationship what my body and soul truly need after a long day starting at 5:30 am. Who is with me? I'm sure we can do it together. Clabby
Love this, and totally relate to everything you said. Not eating past dinnertime has been a major hurdle for me (I'm on day 17). I had a small bowl of fresh pineapple tonight about two hours after I had dinner, and after that all I could think about was what else can I have? The resounding answer in my head was "NOTHING!". For the past two weeks (other than tonight), all I've had is nighty night tea and I've been night craving-less. Who would have thought an innocent bowl of pineapple would have such an effect? Anyway, I'm with you!
drtracyb
I am totally a night eater. I can be compliant all day and then 9 or 10 p.m. comes upon me and suddenly I am snacking. I do better when I am on a whole30 but immediately fall off the wagon when left to my own devices. Im supposed to be in the April 1 whole30 group but find today is April 4 and I have not get limited my eating. Waaah.
