AllyRe22
Can eating off plan make you really sick? My husband was doing this with me for the last 2 weeks and yesterday he decided to stop. He ate peanut butter and a couple samples of stuff at Costco, plus salad dressing for dinner. About 2-3 hours after dinner he started having severe diarrhea and stomach cramps. It continued all through the night and he is still miserable now, going on 24 hours. He hasn't eaten anything all day and is still having diarrhea. Is it possible he could be this sick just from what he ate? No one else in the house has any symptoms.
jent103
It could be that he caught a bug, but it could also be that he's having a reaction to something - what was in those samples? Dairy gives many people stomach problems, for example.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted April 7, 2014 Moderators Share Posted April 7, 2014 When you eliminate all gut irritants for 30 days, your stomach begins to slough off some of the protective mucosal lining that it had because it doesn't "need" it anymore. So a person may notice more irritation when they reintroduce a food because their stomach is a little less prepared to blunt the effects of it than it was before. However, two weeks of Whole30-style eating is not long enough to allow for much change to the gut, so it is much more likely that he caught a bug or got a bad sample.
