Brittany Long
Can cravings be linked to not enough sleep? I was doing really well. I even went to my MOPS meeting this morning and avoided all the baked goods and there was even biscuits and gravy, got a late lunch at home, and then ate dinner a little later too. Then after dinner I gave into my stupid craving and had a banana with almond butter. I know technically it's approved but I still feel like I failed. How do I stay on track?? I only get like 6-7 hours of sleep. But I am going to bed like now tonight! Lol.
AmyS
Yes, definitely cravings can be related to being sleep-deprived. I notice that I'm nearly desperate for certain really bad things when I'm sleep deprived. The cravings can just about take over my day. I don't give in to the cravings any more, and I'm over a year into this journey, but I have decades of giving in, so it's a long process of understanding that I'm not hungry for that awful alleged food item, I'm just really really exhausted. Happy snoozing.

eclaire
Hey Brittany, I'm also day 17 and gave in last night I think due to lack of sleep as well! I am peri-menopausal and a few nights each month I have a hard time staying asleep. The night before last and last night were both bad and I'm definitely not feeling the tiger blood at the moment. After dinner last night, I caved in and had a few spoons of cashew butter and a bunch of roasted sweet potato chunks. Technically approved, but not part of the plan of course and definitely a nod to my old eating habits that I'm trying to kick. Today let's both do better! ~claire
laurobnat
Hi Brittany. I think you did great avoiding all that food at your MOPS meeting! I'm on Day 19. I have been sleeping fine. However Days 17 & 18 I was craving sweets something fierce in evening. I think it is because I am close the my time of the month. Hopefully tonight the sugar dragon will leave me alone. I hope you sleep better tonight.
