Peg541
I'm on day 5. Doing very well. I'm eating what is easiest and what I like until it's gone. I just finished the butternut squash and made some spinach and broccoli. I wondering which veggies are higher in carbs and should be eaten less than the ones not. I'd think carrots and butternut squash are higher and maybe that's why I've had 5 pretty good days. Should I not eat them as much? Is there a recommended order to eat veggies in? Or a list of what's higher in carbs. I went thru the PDF and did not see anything there. Or is this overthinking it? I want this to work. I don't want to find out on day 30 I've gained weight. Vian
You are over thinking this. Carbs are not limited on a whole30. If you feel better eating starchy veggies with every meal, especially if you are at a healthy weight and/or are very active, you are welcome to. Make sure you get greens and other types of veggies in as well, but many people find they suffer from low energy if they don't get enough carbs from starchy vegetables. Most root veggies (rutabegas, sweet potatoes, carrots, parsnips, sunchokes, etc.) are a good source of starch, as well as green plantains and winter squash. Peg541
I'm close to a healthy weight but am trying to keep off a 133 lb loss with WWatchers. I've gained 15 back and want to lose. Part of my reason for being here. One part anyway. So if I have the root veggies once a day for energy and greens and others the rest of the time I'm still compliant? I wondered if there was a recommended how many a day if you indeed want to lose weight. Yet eat well. Well being compliant. But really thanks. I understand. Tina R
It all depends on you. If eating starchy veggies once a day works for you then do it. If you have headaches, are tired and maybe even light headed than you need more starchy veggies. What kind of diet did you eat before? If you had sandwiches, French fries, pizza, pasta and sugar then you were eating a lot of carbs. Two or three servings of starchy veggies a day are probably far less than you were eating before. Not all of us lose weight on a whole30. Make sure you are following the meal planning template, drinking 1/2 your weight in oz of water a day, eating digestive enzymes, and working out at least 3 days a week. I would avoid snacking on fruit and nuts. Good luck.
Peg541
I've always eaten pretty clean a few bad habits were creeping back in hence the whole30. I'm going to vary my veggies and see how it goes. I feel great.
CaGirl
And doing a whole 30 means we have to rid our brain of old "diet" habits.. Those good old rules don't apply anymore while doing a whole 30/60/90 Have you got the actual book Peg? Its well worth it..
