Coffee question...

One or two cups of coffee per day is probably fine, three occasionally. If you are drinking more you have to look at why. Are you drinking coffee because you don't get enough sleep?

Or maybe you are asking about how much coconut milk. That is variable too, but I would think you should not exceed half coffee, half coconut milk. :)

The therapeutic dose of coffee is 100-200mg. That translates to 1 to 2 cups.

I would personally avoid it, and replace with green tea, which has the amino acid L-theanine.

This amino acid provides a calming focus, rather than the jittery effect often seen on coffee.

You are likely fairly caffeine dependent if you don't feel 'perked up' from 2-4 cups.

Have you tried giving it up for a short bit and seeing what happens?

Most people in the world are magnesium deficient. I actually wrote a bit on magnesium on one of my blog posts for PaleoHacks: http://blog.paleohacks.com/supplements-paleo-diet/

Hope this helps,

Casey

I drink 2-4 cups a day as well... just because I LOVE COFFEE!!!! I drink it black though... I'm sure if I there was coconut milk in it I wouldn't be able to drink that much.

As long as I am sure to not drink any past noon, I sleep fantastically.

does anyone find that green tea doesn't have any effect on them? I've tried to replace my coffee with it, but it doesn't seem to do anything...

I LOVE my coffee too. I never thought I would still want it black, but I quickly adjusted, add 30-60 mL of coconut milk....ahhhh, Heavenly. I've replaced my 3rd & 4 th cup with tea, because I worry about taking in that much caffeine.

I have a question about half caff, I've avoided decaf coffee because I once read that there are 21 chemicals used to remove caffeine from coffee, and they are harmful chemicals. Can any one validate or dismiss this for me?

Yup, that one is true, if you are getting conventional decaf coffee. There is decaf that is processed without chemicals, if you can find it. Usually the label will say "Swiss Water Processed Decaf" but I think any organic decaf has to meet this standard.
