Jamie - hang in there!  Do throw it in the trash.  Or freeze it.

I have half of a red velvet cake sitting in my fridge right now from my step-daughter's graduation party.  And half of an almond spice cake, which I could have made paleo compliant but instead let my husband buy from a bakery.  Both I guess will be frozen, or better, thrown away.  The actual action of throwing it away hurts, but then you'll be glad.

Hello everyone! Hope you had a great weekend. I spent yesterday boating on the Chesapeake Bay with my wife, sister-inlaw and brother-in-law. My sister-in-law just finished fighting breast cancer and I was glad we could give her a wonderful day on the water with beautiful weather and a great dinner afterwards. I pray that she has beaten cancer for good. Remember.....if you are feeling bad.......you dont have to look far to see someone who has it worse.

Marita - congrats on the weight and the inches......sounds like success!

Miki - "I totally agree with Dave's take on just keeping busy until you can't move".....you make me sound like a psychopath....I like it! Congrats on finding your garage!

Why is it that everytime I log on here that someone is laid up like a "sick-bay commando"? Get up, get well! I feel like I need to go disinfect my keyboard.

Has someone stepped forward to set up the new thread for the group? Mini and I will be starting our "compliant" program on 9 June.......feel free to join if you would like. We intend on having lots of fun, laughs, weight loss, healthy living, and of course...prizes! OK, maybe not prizes......

Have a great day!

Dave

Alright.......prizes! Geez.....women! I am going to try and beat my own personal weight loss record of 17 pounds in a month. I will try to lose........drum roll please.........146 pounds in 30 days! That would leave me at my ideal weight of 71 pounds! The trick will be finding the low-fat pine cones to make pancake syrup with. Don't worry, the pancakes will be made of seaweed and cashews.

Aside from the reintroduction thread (that someone needs to start...hint hint), please look for a thread called "9 June Start" and feel free to drop in and say hello. Mini and I will probably have moved on and will act like we don't know you...but be persistent!

Dave

P.S. - "9 June Start" thread has been posted.

Also, thanks to everyoine for the advice on where to get coconut aminos and frozen cherries. You guys rock.......but you already knew that!

So, for all my complaining, I do like the results of the Whole30.  My husband measured his BP, it dropped 43 points (the top one) and 12 for the bottom one.  He is two points away from normal.  I kinda can't believe it's almost day 30.

Hi all.

So glad everyone is pulling through. Thanks to all you for talking me off the ledge a couple of weeks ago. I am feeling better.

Jamie- If I could give you a hug I would. I was/am tired all the time too. I sympathize with you.

I am extending my time until June 6th. I will then take a week off for a vacation (i will remain as compliant as possible in a foreign country)

Dave and Miki- can I hang with the cool kids on your new thread even though I won't start my next whole 30 until June 15th?

For those of you feeling not a great as it seems like everyone else is-just remember this is a self-selected forum. Meaning the people feeling great are more likely to post. the people feeling bad may have given up or feel like they did something wrong. But stay with it. at least that's what I am doing and telling myself. I am giving myself a little longer to see if things kick into high gear soon.

oh i even though I don't feel fabulous or like I lost weight. I did travel back to my home state and some people provided me with compliments. They asked if I had lost weight. So that did fell great.

big hugs to all,

Renee

Renee, please check in on us. We are engaging in a tough love, no excuses program, which is what it is supposed to be anyways. I've warned all my friends that I'm only eating what I cook and although I'll go out to eat with them, I won't eat. I'll just drink great water with a little lemon and enjoy the ambiance and great company. It's really what it is all about for me, except that some how I've linked food and drink to the experience and truly they do NOT make the experience better for me. Wearing my shorts at the beach make the experience for me and waking up with tons of energy and living twice the day I would normally live because I feel so great, makes the experience for me.

The more the merrier I say. Dave loves all his harem, so that should be a no-brainer, slam-dunk, hole in one.

hugs

m

I know Dave expects me to start some forum thingy which I'll try to do after work tonight.

I'll be looking for you and checking in on you but will join you later on in reintroland~9 June start. I don't know if you all saw this but it's got some good info.http://whole30.com/step-two-finished about reintro.

Also I agree with Renee, when I wasn't feeling good either mentally or physically I would read the posts but would not always post how I was feeling, so all you stalkers out there, hang in-on!! :)

I can't believe its almost over!

I have enjoyed the support on this forum so much, thanks and congratulations to all of you for all the contributions.

I am considering doing June 9 but with additional AIP modifications, since I can't find an AIP thread to join and I feel like the 30 day commitment really helps propel you forward.

I would  commit being non - annoying and unobtrusive about the different restrictions. Dave could always give me a smack down ;-)

I have to say I really don't think I've lost any weight :-(  But I feel a very significant increase in energy which is super awesome.

Still working on sleep and stress.

Until tomorrow - DAY 30/30!!!!

Hey Deb,

We want all our 5/5's on the 9June start, don't we Dave. Even if you're not in the whole 30 proper..there's so many tips and encouragement that you receive from all who chime in. I personally am committed to complete compliance. I will probably include not toms and nuts because I think they are problematic for me. I'm going to allow eggs and peppers as needed.  I can't wait. My no pain book should be here soon and I'm hoping that will help me increase my exercise.

Kage, you are doing great, give yourself a big pat on the back from me.

Terra, congrats on a job well done.

All the 5/5's are inspirations each in thier own day.

Hugs and best wishes, MamaMiki

I changed my profile pic! I have 15 more pounds to go to reach my goal of losing 51 pounds and reaching 200 lbs. I will then be able to fit back into my Navy "choker" whites for my buddies retirement in September! I could probably get into it now, but I don't want a button to fly off and kill a small child or animal.

Kage - be strong...you got this!

All - I agree with Mini....come join us on the 9 June Start! Whether you are starting a second program, fumbling thru your first, bored, can't find anything on TV, tired of mowing the yard........just come have fun with us!

Deb C - I have a smack down waiting for you!

Have a great "second Monday" everyone!

June 9th will be a little early for me to start my second whole30. After the reintroduction I am planning on eating paleo for a while and will probably do my 2nd whole30 in August. I have a backpacking trip in July with my son and I have already started dehydrating for paleo backpacking meals. I love a challenge and I couldn't imagine eating preservative laden backpacking meals and be feeling terrible on the trail!

@Dave and Miki- I will definitely be following your journey starting 6/9 and can't wait to see how you all do!

@Dave- wearing your whites to your buddies retirement will be an awesome accomplishment! You have been so successful with your loosely followed program, I am really looking forward to seeing your official whole30 results!

@Kage- Thanks for the reintro thread! Stay strong. I have been sick too with a sore throat and have actually cried several times in the last few days because I really wanted to put honey in my tea to ease my sore throat. I resisted though because I have come this far. I made home made chicken soup, have been drinking herbal tea, and gargling with salt water. I also discovered epson salts and felt so much better after a long soak in the tub.

I am feeling about 50% better today...thankfully! I feel hungry, but my desire to eat is still down. Yesterday I ate several really small meals. I know that is not advisable on the Whole30, but you do what you can when you are sick. I am proud that I stuck with the program even with this setback in the end.

Everyone...please post your results in our reintroduction thread! I can't wait to see how everyone has done and am even more excited to see how we do with the reintroduction!

WOW Day 30 .......

I cannot believe it is really Day 30, Day 1, 2, 3, 4, 5....I thought I would never make Day 30 and here it is.

And I did it, I cannot believe that I actually did it, that alone is a huge accomplishment. (My family also thought I could not do it).

DebC... I too do not think that I have lost any weight. But I also feel a surge of energy and I love it. I also feel less bloated and all the other wonderful things that come with it.........

Kage & Auburngal.... hope you are feeling better soon!

Miki & Dave.... good luck on June 9th on your 2nd Whole30. It is too soon for me as well to begin one. I will probably follow 90-10 and continue to eat 90% like this with 10% other items. I really enjoyed most of the things and did not miss alot of stuff that I thought that I would miss, so hopefully it will not be that hard. I will probably try another one in the fall.

And to everyone else..... congrat's and good luck .........

I have probably eaten more eggs in the last month then in the last year. I have been re-introduced to foods (beets)  that I have not had for along time and also introduced to foods that I have never had (sweet potato, squash). I have re-learnt that it is simple to make great meals using what nature has given us. I even managed to make stuff from scratch that I had never even thought of to make: homemade mayo, ketchup, homemade barbeque sauce, homemade ranch dressing.......

I would like to try to make a few other things...... kombucha, fermented foods just to name a few.

I do not miss the snacking like I thought I would miss. I also enjoy sleeping better and waking up feeling great. I also enjoy being 'happy'.

Re-into will be interesting as I do not miss bread, dairy or legumes....... I do however miss the odd sweet but had some strawberries yesterday and they tasted o so good. I do miss the odd 'beverage' especially on those hot summer nights..... a glass of wine or a beer.... not a big drinker but an occasional beverage is nice....

So I do not know how much stuff I am going to re-intro........

We will see you in the re-into forum and let you know how it is going!

Again, this journey was fun and they are correct 30 DAYS was not that hard, mind over matter! :)

All, I think I figured out a workaround for my salty (no sugar added bacon). I cook my bacon ahead of time and put it in the fridge. Throughout the week I make scrambled eggs and crumble the bacon into it while its cooking. When they are done......I DONT SALT THE EGGS! The bacon provides the salt...........GENIUS....right? I love my simple brain.

Great Idea Dave. I love it in my "mock cobb salad"...yummy.

I'm off to see if I can find your reinto forum.

June 9th will be my first whole 30. Although I tried this one on and off, I had so many mistakes that I never made it. I feel very on track and that I now get the moderator's mindset...and the program mind set, which for me is always the project (I'm a little rebellious, go figure).

Make it a GREAT DAY 30...WAHOO..Congrats on a job well done?

Well, I made it to day 30 -- but still have 9 days to go due to my carageenan snafu.  I have to travel the next two days so we will see if I can be compliant.  I am travelling to Casper, WY and Rawlins, WY -- not exactly the meccas of healthy eating in any way shape or form.  Rawlins, WY -- I'm not sure there are even any "chain" restaurants except fast food so wish me luck!

Congrats to everyone that made it this far!  I'm going to plan another Whole 30 -- probably 3rd week in July.  After I finish my last 9 days I'm going to focus on eating paleo and getting my exercise going since I have not been doing much exercise.  Here's to hoping my second whole30 will allow me to lose some size!

Dave, you are SO funny. I agree we are awesome. We certainly embody the spirit of this expedition, if not always the letter of the law. Sometimes joy, kindness and encouragement go a long way to inspiring people to great heights, which hopefully is what this is all about for us. Indeed, disciplined parenting is also a necessary component and I'm grateful to the moderators who didn't shake their heads in disgust and walk away, but rather embraced us for who we are and allowed us to be, while still keeping our heads on straight with respect to the W30 and why fully compliance is required to reap all of the benefits.

Cheers -

Mini/Miki

See DAVE, I told you you had followers!

I can't keep up with everyone but I'll try-

Good luck traveling Jamie! Hope you can find a good grocery or health food store (just stay away from the deli turkey!  ;) too soon?!) .

Miki and Dave, I'm so impressed you guys are getting right back into another whole30! I hope it goes really well! I will be checking in but I don't think I'll do another one till I can get my parents on board with me. (Hopefully July!)

Auburngal I am so proud of you getting through these last few days while sick! That is totally the worst but I'm glad you found epsom salts!

Donna, Renee and Deb, I hope you three are pleasantly surprised when you step on the scale- did you take measurements too? I am really trying not to set myself up for any scale/measurement disappointment (because I KNOW, it doesn't matter!) and my clothes really are fitting better, but it's a struggle, for sure.

Kage and Tzarter, I can totally relate- these last few days have been a struggle, which really surprised me! I'm trying to come up with a good meal plan for today tomorrow and thursday (my last day) AND the following days as well. I might even have to buy some non-compliant (less-healthy? I think they call them) foods to reintroduce because we have none! Ha.

I learned so much from this whole30 and really want to do it next time with a close eye on budget- I have a feeling it could be super inexpensive if I paid closer attention. I have grown many ways as a cook, which is cool cause even though I enjoy cooking I could definitely get lazy. Next whole30 I want to have a food processor and spiralizer, that might help me spend a little less time in the kitchen!

Marita- congratulations on your whole30! Your results sound great!

I can't wait to hear everyone else's results! I wish I had taken better "before" pictures... but I don't know if I have the guts to share them anyways  ;)

P.S. It just so happens we have tickets to a concert Saturday night so that will be such an awesome way to celebrate finishing my whole30. I am also treating myself to a haircut and possibly a jacket I've been eyeing, and we're trying a new restaurant that smokes its own meat and makes incredible salads. What a great day it will be :)
