lmhansen1
I just began the Whole 30 yesterday. I drink a ton of water, but sometimes just want some flavor. Is there anything I can drink besides water? Also, can I use non-dairy creamer in my coffee?
Moderators Tom Denham Posted August 5, 2012 Moderators Share Posted August 5, 2012 You can have tea. You can flavor your water with some lemon, lime, cucumber, mint, basil, etc. A few slices or a few sprigs in a pitcher of water infuses flavor. You can add coconut milk to your coffee. And some folks add coconut oil or ghee. You can't put a processed powder in your coffee like a non-dairy creamer even if you could find one where all the ingredients are acceptable (and I don't think you can). And not one that pours either. The Whole30 is a time to learn to live on real, whole foods. Canned coconut milk is about as far away from real and whole as any of us need to go. lmhansen1
Can I have coffee or am I supposed to avoid it?
TheRealAndra
Coffee is to be avoided if you feel you need it to get through the day. It's also an appetite suppressant which can mess up hunger/fullness signals. I have a cappuccino made with steamed full fat coconut milk every Sunday as a treat rather than every day because I wanted to make sure I knew when I was truly hungry and truly satisfied during my Whole 30.
