Cici
I saw a holistic doctor yesterday for several health issues. I did a whole 60 at the first of the year, but after vacation next week, he wants me to do 4-6 weeks with absolutely no sugar. No fruit, no sweet potatoes. Those were staples for me during my whole 60. It's going to be hard, but it will be worth it, right? To feel better? Anyone gone completely sugar free? What was your experience? Any tips? Moderators LadyM Posted May 6, 2014 Moderators Share Posted May 6, 2014 I have all but cut fruit and nuts entirely and I eat starchy veg sparingly. I've gotten used to it, but I can also tell when my body is suffering from going too low carb, and then I increase compliant starchy veg. If I were you, I'd talk to the doc about what his/her goals are for you with this and why. Also whether or not ketosis is a good thing for you. Best of luck! Cici
Thanks! There will be a few phases to my treatment plan, but I'm trying to heal leaky gut, candida, and possible thyroid issues. Cici
Delaine Ross
There are still starchy vegetables left: rutabaga, turnips, parsnips, squash. Are you allowed to eat those (according to your doctor?)
Cici
Yes, I think all of those are still approved.
Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted May 6, 2014 Moderators Share Posted May 6, 2014 Cici, make friends with roasted beets, and with rutabaga hash. I shred mine up, fry it up in coconut oil, add some onions, paprika, chili powder and salt. Sometimes I throw in ground meat, other times I top with eggs. Delicious!
