Is paleo ranch SWYPO?

Sort of, but I don't care if you eat either of these once. The problem is that chicken wings are a crappy source of protein in a meal. I certainly eat the wings when I cook a chicken, but you should not fool yourself that you are eating well if you make a batch of wings.

An alternate option is to take some drumsticks and glaze them the same way you would wings. I've never cared for wings because there's so little meat on them. I prefer having 3-4 drumsticks for a meal rather than a dozen+ wings.

SWYPO is a term that refers to things that are paleo-ified that just aren't ever as good as the real thing. Paleo pizza is a great example. I've tried making cauliflower crust pizza. It was ok. It tasted pretty good. It wasn't really pizza though. And it was a LOT of work for something that just wasn't as good as the real thing. If you can make it paleo/whole30, and make it just as good, if not better, than the original, then it's not really SWYPO. Ranch dressing is really easy to make paleo, and i'm sure would taste just as good as the "real" thing. Wings are kind of the same idea, you can glaze them with any number of things and make them delicious. It doesn't have to be hot sauce with loads of butter in it, or some kind of sugar-laden sticky glaze.

Nomnompaleo.com has lots of recipes for marinades and glazes for chicken, and several of them are whole30 friendly.
