snowflower
This is my 3rd Whole30 since last July. I've never experienced this before, so I'm not sure what's going on...... I'm on day 6 and the last 3 mornings I've woken up at 4 AM and am REALLY hungry! I'm tired though too. So I've had a big glass of water and I go back to sleep. But it's a struggle to fall back to sleep and I toss and turn for at least 30 minutes. I go to bed between 10-10:30 and get up at 6. I don't eat after dinner (which is usually between 6-7pm). I follow the template and eat 1 1/2-2 palms of protein and lots of veggies. I cook with ghee or coconut oil and top my veggies with olive oil. I sometimes have a piece of fruit. I feel like I'm eating plenty. Any ideas? Suggestions?
Moderators Tom Denham Posted May 13, 2014 Moderators Share Posted May 13, 2014 I have to make sure I eat three substantial meals per day to make it through the night without getting hungry. Eating a big dinner is not enough for me if I was too light at breakfast or lunch. I have serious trouble falling asleep if I am hungry, so typically get up and eat something... Sometimes a can of sardines and some cold sauerkraut or a baked sweet potato with some macadamia nuts. I am jealous that you can get back to sleep in 30 minutes with just a big glass of water. GlennR
Eat. If you're waking up hungry, eat something; preferably something proteiny/fatty, like nuts, an egg, leftover meat, or jerky. Avoid fruit because the sugar will just keep you up. (Believe me, I know.) Try to adjust your meals so it doesn't happen again, but if it does happen, eat. I don't see the point in trying to bull your way through hunger.
