Minamyna
Hello- I have been wanting to do this for a while, but both hubby and I work and go to school and focusing on anything outside of is practically possible with college-aged roommates etc etc. Everyone left for the summer and we spent all of yesterday finding meals and recipes. Then we moved on to throwing out old food that is not on the diet, everything we didn't want to throw out went into a box in the freezer and all my baking things when into a box on the top of an armoire. Certainly out of site, out of mind. We are dreading this a little bit, we have done low carb diets before, but we just love things like Crystal light and tons of coffee with splenda, diet soda, so this is sort of a reset for both of us. I can tell you right now I am tired and worn out we ate everything that either wouldn't keep or there was just a little left off. I ended up having hard cider and sprite last night. My head is not quite right... Anyways, off to figure out breakfast and work and lunch an work and home and dinner studying. Wish me luck! - Hi from Melbourne, FL
Kara22
Hi there! I started this morning as well! And shamefully...like you...attempted to eat what I couldn't bear to throw away yesterday, including the rest of a box of wine...oops. But in a way it was actually good because after I ate my leftover burrito and (multiple servings of) chocolate covered almonds, I actually felt pretty bad. So while I was freaking out about starting this, it was a good reminder of why it's a good thing to be undertaking this endeavor! I'm worried I'm going to be hungry today but only time will tell! Physibeth
Welcome to the Whole30! Keep in mind that this program is not meant to be low carb though it is certainly lower carb than most people eat. We encourage you to eat plenty of vegetables including starchy ones. No shame here please! What we eat is just choices. They make us more or less healthy but they are choices none the less and they don't affect our morality so there is no need for shame. I've been at this for over a year and I made a choice to have a way not Whole30 meal the night before I started my 2nd Whole30. No shame...I knew it was a less healthy choice and I made it with my eyes wide open but it didn't change who I am.
gswh2
I started today as well and I also spent the last week eating everything I won't be able to eat during this plan. I am glad I am not the only one. I was concerned that everyone else was slowly phasing out forbidden foods. I am envious of you having your husband to support you and go through this with you. Good luck to you both! Kara22
Thanks Bethany, you're absolutely right. I made the choice knowing exactly what I was doing and the great thing about life is everyday you have the chance to make new choices! So I own that burrito, wine, and chocolate...and will see them again in a month...if I choose to!

Good luck to you both! It has been a long time coming, usually I am on my own, and usually if he does join he quits a week in. We will see what happens. I am trying to make sure I provide foods he will eat. We are also on a tight budget so we planned out all the meals and then bought only the food for the meals, so he has some other motivation. The hardest thing for him is only drinking water, he loves soda and drinks any kind diet or regular. He does;t like tea or coffee. I put some lime in his water, but still its hard. Oh I did it on purpose knowing that I would feel a little crappy, then when I switched to good foods I would feel much better, thus reminding me how much better this food is. I did stop eating wheat a while ago because I was having stomach problems.
