mumontherun
Hi All I'm on day 17 and I think I've hit the 'oh no, not eggs for breakfast AGAIN' stage! I've been having 2 eggs most mornings and varying cooking methods and veggies/fruit that I serve along side.....was doing OK with that but this morning I made a spinach omelette and was really looking forward to it. Took one bite, chewed and spat it out. Literally couldn't eat it! Tried adding a tad more seasoning but nope....just couldn't do it! No time to make anything else so it was just black coffee for me. Any suggestions lovely people? Thanks Maria.
mumontherun
p.s. I grabbed a handful of cashews and some blueberries so that I had something rather than nothing at all. Not ideal but will stave off hunger until lunch!
missmary
um, anything? Think about what you like for meal #2 and meal #3. Eat that for breakfast. I've been having turkey breast lately (roasted), but I've been known to have meatballs or lamb burger patties or pulled pork or beef roast or salmon. All of these go great with veggies. If you search the forums for "breakfast without eggs" you will get a million other suggestions. One popular one (haven't tried it myself) is soup. So beef stew or chili or squash soup with a handful of shredded meat. ps-cashews+blueberries along are not a good choice for breakfast (you knew that, right?). It will be very liberating once you are able to break loose of the "breakfast must be breakfast foods" idea. just eat food for breakfast and you will be fine. Beets
Yes. What Miss M said. It's very liberating to not have to eat "breakfast" for breakfast. I don't eat eggs bc I'm on AIP. I eat a regular template meal, meat/fish + veg + fat. I find eating meat for breakfast sets me up right for the day. If meat is too heavy or strange at first fish might work. Once you get used to it it's great, one of the best side effects of the w30. Every day is a brunch menu and you can eat whatever you want.
mumontherun
Thanks ladies....I just can't get my head around meat in the morning, except for bacon/ham and really don't want to overdo that. Will have a go at getting out of the breakfast food mind-set though....and perhaps try left overs for breakfast sometimes to save time. Yup, I know the blueberries/cashews were not ideal but better than nothing.
Ausgirl
Sweet potato hash from Nom Nom Paleo with sausage or bacon through it is amazing! You can add an egg when you feel like it. I hear you. I am going to scream if I have another veggie frittata for brekkie!!
Amica
I've had the same feeling about eggs lately, so I too have been working on other things just so I don't get so sick of them I decide I can never eat another egg again I grew up with parents who fully believed that leftover dinners made perfectly good breakfasts, so I feel like I'm ahead of the game a little bit. One of my favorite breakfast treats when I was younger was to get the leftover, wilted salad from the night before. Weird This morning I made myself a 1/3 pound hamburger patty, flattened to very thin, topped it with a spread of guac and some sauteed halved grape tomatoes. It was really delicious! walkingchick
Have you considered making fruit smoothies for breakfast? Sometimes, I add spinach to make them extra nutritious. I find that these have really helped me. Today, I'm on Day 17 and I'm doing great and looking great!
missmary
Have you considered making fruit smoothies for breakfast? Sometimes, I add spinach to make them extra nutritious. I find that these have really helped me. Today, I'm on Day 17 and I'm doing great and looking great! Nope. Fruit smoothies are not a good choice for breakfast, and they aren't recommended at any other time of day either. Here's why: Smoothies: We'd rather you didn't This is a very popular question, with a very unpopular answer. Smoothies (generally made using lots of fruit) are technically compliant on your Whole30, but we strongly recommend against it. Food that you drink sends different satiety signals to your brain than food that you chew. So when you drink your meal, your brain isn't getting the feedback it needs to tell your body that it's had enough of what it needs. Plus, smoothies are generally really fruit-heavy, and starting your day off with a liquid sugar-bomb sets you up for cravings, hunger, and volatile energy levels throughout the day. In summary, we'd rather you just eat the food, and skip the smoothie. - See more at: http://whole30.com/2013/06/the-official-can-i-have-guide-to-the-whole30/#sthash.1yaPr14N.dpuf
monicav
I'm having a breakfast problem too. My husband takes the leftovers for lunch and I have to make something everyone can eat quick in the morning. So I make a fritatta at night and we eat that everyday. So sick of eggs.
bronwyn_q
I'm an Australian that grew up in Asia as a child and it's really only the western culture that have specialized breakfast meals; cereal, pancakes, sweet stuff etc while what was eaten for breakfast in Asia, us westerners would consider to be lunch or dinner. It's just thinking out of the square and what you're conditioned to think by tradition and advertising
