colleenmarie
So this is probably a dumb question, but I wondered if anyone else noticed this, or if it is part of the process. I am on day 11, and I have been increasing my sparkling water intake (cause yum) and I feel more bloated today than I did on day 7. Is this from the water, or just part of the whole30 process? I drink a LOT during the day, and probably half of the drinks are a sparking water or pellegrino. Is that bad? Thanks!
Moderators Tom Denham Posted May 22, 2014 Moderators Share Posted May 22, 2014 I found this note on the internet that seems relevant... Stomach trouble (for some of us): Though no serious studies document it, it's possible that drinking a ton of sparkling water could cause some unpleasant stomach symptoms for some people. "You are consuming extra carbonation - extra air - so somebody who tends to be very sensitive to changes in their diet should definitely be on the lookout for that," King said. "It could cause excessive burping, flatulence and abdominal distention, which could cause a lot of discomfort. That's probably the main side effect people would see." (My coworkers haven't complained about my burping and flatulence, and my pants still fit, so I think I'm good.)Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/health/sparkling-water-healthy-regular-water-article-1.1460179#ixzz32UHhPRJV

Jared
I've had a few seltzers on whole 30 (day 9 for me) and noted that I feel a little more bloated as well. It tends to pass fairly quickly though. (I don't usually drink much soda, but plain water is getting old and I hate black coffee.)
Joolz65
We put a jug of water in the fridge with lemon and ginger in it. It's really refreshing, even the kids like it. It's best when left overnight but still good when fresh.
Delaine Ross
I also notice that when I have a lot of seltzer.... but like Jared said, it's only temporary. Just decide if on that day the bloat is worth the seltzer.
