Advice for Second Shift Work Schedules?

I am starting my first Whole30 on June 1, and my husband has decided to join in with me. Unfortunately, his job schedule is 4 ten hour days a week, from 3 pm to 1:30 am. He usually wakes up at 8 am, so eats breakfast around then, lunch around noon, and his dinner break is at 7:30 pm. His job is manual labor, so when he comes home after work he is usually very hungry. Would you recommend that he eat a meal after work, similar to a post-workout meal, or would that be a bad choice because it is so close to bed?
