GrannieD
I am on Day 5 of my first W30 and developed a stye on my upper eyelid. I have only had a stye once before when I was in my 20's. I was wondering if anyone has any insight on this. Am I detoxing? Is it too much saturated fat intake? Will it continue? Or is it just a fluke that I got one now? GlennR
It is actually possible that it has something to do with the detox you are experiencing. The toxins in your system exit not just through your digestive system, but through your external covering: skin, sweat glands, etc. Some people get localized rashes or skin irritation or outbreaks of eczema during their Whole30. It's possible exiting toxins may have clogged or irritated the oil glands on your eyelids, causing or exacerbating an infection.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted May 31, 2014 Moderators Share Posted May 31, 2014 Whatever caused the sty, it was not eating saturated fat.
jdevany1031
I am dealing with the same issue! And ironicaly mine started on Day 5 as well. I'm now on Day 13 and it's become a major infection requiring antibiotics I wondered the exact same thing, if it was detox related. I haven't had a stye in years, and suddenly in the midst of cleaning up my diet, one not only pops up, but is a mega stye. I had to go to the eye doctor yesterday and get on medicine to get rid of it!
agnieszka
I wanted to contribute to this thread as I, too, have an infected eye stye, and I'm currently on day 12. Based on my experience, this is my second whole30, this is very much detox related in my case. I had a similar experience last year when I was on the elimination protocol. Incredibly annoying to go through, but we'll worth it in the end.
