motovegg
Hi all! I am Nicole. Well, I signed up for it at last. I have my ISWF book by the Hartwigs and both "Well Fed" cookbooks. I spent most of yesterday cooking up chicken, beef, meatballs, sauteing vegetables, and made a huge cold salad with my food processor.(Then cleaned my kitchen) I'm starting on a Saturday because this is my Monday. I am coming off of having Memorial/birthday weekend off and the whole week after. Prior to my time off, I was experimenting with the whole foodmap idea. I have never been a vegetable eater other than potatoes, corn, and steamed broccoli on occasion. I found the vegetables to be really great when I combined them with flavorful spices and sauces. Very exciting! My skin cleared up a lot right away and I felt really good! Now I have been eating really crappy for a week and I feel it and look it. I'm ready to do this. I just turned 41 and the weight won't move, my energy is lagging, and I'm not living up to my potential. I also feel like I am fighting harder because I quit smoking on January 1. While that's going fine, I really feel like my metabolism has taken a hit. This is sort of dumb, but I'm worried about giving up alcohol. I'm a social drinker...and it's summer! Wah. Poor me! A lot of times I feel really sick after drinking anyway, so I know it does not agree with my stomach.
CharDoll
Come join the june 1 support thread. The social drinking or lack there of will get easier. Last summer on my first whole30 I spent two weeks down the shore with the family and avoided easy beach food, boardwalk ice cream and caramel corn and beers etc. I was worth it. My health was worth it. You can do it! Seltzer with lemon and lime (and even fresh mint) is a lifesaver and very refreshing!
