kazblue
I'm on Day 7 and doing okay. The only concern I have is a mild reaction that started on Day 4---bumps/rash on the roof of my mouth and my lips, similar to what I sometimes get from eating mango. But I haven't eaten any mango. Originally, I was going to blame the produce I was eating---blueberries and raspberries, or maybe some of my raw veggies. But now the bumps seem to be briefly flame--become irritated and inflamed, and then that lessens after a few minutes---every time I eat anything or have anything other than water in my mouth---homemade /homegrown pesto, pasture-fed beef, kombucha, toothpaste, bulletproof coffee, olive oil, anything. I don't feel like this is in any way likely to escalate toward an anaphalaxic-type reaction, and I have no history of any food allergies. But in my past experiences with mangos, I've made an effort to avoid them for weeks or months after a "reaction" just to be safe. But now I'm reacting to all food, and I have to eat, lol. Not sure if I should worry about this, or just monitor and wait for it to pass? Is this part of the detox process? I think I read somewhere that rashes and other things like that can occur. Any thoughts?
Tina R
I am not an expert and you may want to see your doctor. Are you eating anything new on your whole30? Maybe coconut in you coffee? Maybe nuts, new fruits, new veggies? Just because something is compliant on the program doesn't mean it is the best food for you. Are you using any new products like toothpaste, soap, lotion? This is not a normal reaction on your whole30. I hope you find the solution soon. Good Luck!
praxisproject
Sounds like an allergic reaction of some kind, make sure you see a doctor and keep a food log. If it's already irritated, the subsequent reactions may be because the skin is still sensitive. Avoiding raw items might help if it's some kind of enzyme. There are plenty of veggies and fruit that you can have reactions to.
Beets
I think when people talk about detox and skin rashes it's more like dry patches or little itchy bumps (or even outbreaks of eczema or psoriasis). Yours does sound like an allergic reaction and probably, like praxis said, it's getting irritated by other food. Are you using coconut products more than usual? Some people react to those. Or did you add more kombucha or fermented products? Maybe histamines? Just tossing ideas out there. My gut feeling is that's not a normal detox thing, which would prob not be in your mouth but another area of exposed skin, but that is based on a hunch and not medical knowledge. :-\
lbh032460
I was wondering what ever happen with the bumps on the roof of your mouth. I started the challenge with my daughters and this is happening to one of them. Did they go away on their own? Thanks
