TrueLightTracey
It's day 20 and I am ready to be done. Don't shoot me but the beginning was easy, especially compared to now! No headaches at all. My middle son, 19, and I are doing it together so that's fun. I am a great cook and love being creative in the kitchen. And thank goodness my son has been around to clean up. Lots of dishes to do on Whole30. I am worn out. I have little to no appetite. Could not bring the fork to my mouth to finish two beautifully poached eggs on a bed of sauteed spinach. My son is experiencing the same thing. It all feel hard right now. The planning, the food prep, the cooking, the cleaning all for one meal. I am exhausted. I need a Whole30 drive through LOL. I just want easy. Suggestions? PS - Oh and I miss dark chocolate...still yes still.
snowflower
I'd suggest a couple of things..... try a new recipe. I'm a huge fan of the Well Fed cookbooks, but if you don't have those look on her website: http://theclothesmakethegirl.com/ Make a huge batch of something you love. This will cut down on the amount of cooking you do at every meal. I do this regularly so I don't have to prepare every meal from scratch. I make a double batch of salmon cakes, make up 4 big meatzas, make a big pot of spaghetti sauce, roast a huge tray of veggies, make a big pot of soup, make a whole head of cauliflower rice, roast a big pork shoulder, etc. I usually freeze half of what I make and eat the rest for a couple of days. Then I feel like I can grab something already made out of the fridge and just warm it up for a meal. Make something really simple. I love a pan fried grass fed burger with mayo and mustard and compliant pickles. Then eat it with whatever veggies have been hanging out in your fridge the longest. TrueLightTracey
Thanks @snowflower. We have totally been doing most of that. If I make another pork shoulder in the crock pot the boys will kill me or run away and I may join them. Even though I have made it 3 different and delicious ways. So there is some weird food aversion happening that I cannot explain. I am making sweet potato fries and chicken tenders with almond meal http://www.generationyfoodie.com/2013/06/paleo-almond-chicken-fingers.html Sounds really delish so I am all fingers crossed. Couldn't eat lunch even though I only had the two eggs with spinach for breakfast. Totally eating SO much less than I used to.
nblandry
Chipotle! I just started whole30 but I plan on hitting up Chipotle for their meat + grilled veggies + guac seems so indulgent now!
snowflower
Chipotle! I just started whole30 but I plan on hitting up Chipotle for their meat + grilled veggies + guac seems so indulgent now! FYI the grilled veggies at Chipotle are not compliant. The only meat that is compliant is the pork carnitas. http://www.chipotle.com/en-us/menu/ingredients_statement/ingredients_statement.aspx
TrueLightTracey
I've been hitting Freebirds. Their stuff is more compliant from what I can tell from their website. That was the plan for lunch today. Couldnt even look at my salad. Mixed greens, white meat chicken, tomatoes, pico, tomitillo, cilantro, lots of lime juice and guacamole. 5 bites and I was done. Physibeth
First I just want to say hang in there. You just have 10 days left. Second, could you post a few days of your food logs including activity, sleep, water, and stress levels? This could give us some context to help troubleshoot from. That said food fatigue is somewhat normal at this stage in the game. I would encourage you to try and eat full meals though as your body needs the nutrition. Freebirds doesn't seem to be that much more compliant than Chipotle. Only one meat on the menu that doesn't have soy or soybean oil. Looks like what you picked is compliant. Part of this process is figuring out how to make the prep and clean up work fit in your lifestyle. I always keep go to things on hand like frozen grass fed burgers and easy veggies for when I don't feel like making a production of things. I always cook extra when I cook. Keep looking for your rhythm and you will find it.
GlennR
It's a common phenomena around the third week of a Whole30. It's called "extinction burst," and it's your brain and body trying various tricks to make you give up and go back to your old way of eating, just when you're getting close to finishing. Some people lose appetite (like me); others get fatigued or nauseous. Power through. It usually fades in a couple of days. Remind yourself: it's just 10 days to go!
