KHW
Day One was amazing. I spent the entire day on some tough chores around the cottage and luckily had enough prepped and leftover goodies to stay compliant the entire day. I think. Hmmmm, is ice, strawberries, small banana whizzed up in the blender compliant? I needed the fluids and this completed my lunch. SO here's the deal - This is why I've decided to do the Whole 30. I have been paleo compliant - no dairy, sugar, but yes a little rice, almond milk, etc. for 30 days but have not lost one single ounce and think my waist is bigger! In the 30 days my energy has returned, I can now work outside a full day without collapsing for 2 hours. I'm swimming again. I just started lifting again. I may never join a Crossfit gym again after 5 years, but at my age I think perhaps a gentler approach may be in order (injuries, surgery). I know I can modify CF, but you know how it is once the competition bug hits - hard to slow down. Energy back, check. Skin looks great. BUT I am still experiencing a lot of bloating, and my clothes feel tighter. I suspect too much fruit, too many nuts. I don't need a lot of food to operate my size of a 12-year-old body. I am nearing 70. I want to be strong and healthy as long as possible. I think the all or nothing approach of Whole 30 and all the great support offered here on the forums is just what I need. Forward to Day 2! PS - Who has compliant bacon?
Moderators Tom Denham Posted June 2, 2014 Moderators Share Posted June 2, 2014 The fruit smoothie is a bad choice because liquid food digests faster than whole food and it contains a full day's serving of fruit in one meal. We want you to eat your food during a Whole30, and limit fruit to one or two servings per day.
KHW
I am aware of the fruit issue, but thanks for the reminder. I try to keep fruit to one serving overall. How much is a serving of berries? Strawberries sliced is a lot different from whole.
Tina R
US Wellness Meats has compliant bacon if it is in stock. Someone said they found some a whole foods. I have never found any in my area so I don't eat bacon on my whole30. Check out the bacon manifesto on the whole30 website. I am unable to post the link here. kindergartencowgirl
I get mine from Prather Ranch in the North Bay Area of California. There's compliant jerky too and all manner of humanely raised meats. I am lucky enough I can buy it at a Farmers Market nearby.

Perhaps it's just your body healing after the bashing it's taken in Crossfit over the years? Everything else seems to suggest that eating well and being gentle is what your body needs at the moment .
