Day 14 and I cant believe it

I have suffered from Fibromyalgia for at least 11 years, and in the past year it has gotten much worse. 3 weeks ago I tried to walk up stairs and I couldn't do it. i had to haul myself up by my arms.

A close friend suggested Whole30 and I figured Hell, what can it hurt. So I started. I have been absolutely faithful. I have also excluded all nightshade plants, since I have occasionally reacted to them, so no peppers, tomatos, eggplant, hot sauce, etc

First week was AWFUL. Pain levels shot up to higher than they had ever been, bad enough I needed to resort to narcotics, which I hate to do. Migraines terrible, and total exhaustion. Then Day 8 I woke up and felt wonderful. I had energy and didn't hurt. Since then:

I have been pain free for the first time in 25 years.

I slept through the night for the first time in 6 years.

I RAN DOWN down the stairs for the first time in 8 years.

And for the first time in 11 years I picked up my guitar and wrote a song.

I really hate this diet. I call it the "If it tastes good spit it out diet". I've never been fond of meat, and I hate leafy greens and squash. And yes, I am learning all sorts of creative ways to prepare the allowed foods, basically creating gourmet ick. Butif this is what it takes to feel like this, I'll do it forever.

I really hope to be able to reintroduce wine on occasion, though. If i have to eat this crap forever I'll really NEED a drink.

Wow Barbara Ellen - your post almost brought me to tears - especially the part about you picking up your guitar after 11 years and writing a song!

Can you imagine how you'll feel when day 31 rolls around?  It will be interesting to see how your reintroductions go, so you can assess what triggered your pain (and whether that occasional wine will be worth it  ;)).
