Old Dog, New Tricks - Day Two

KHW

Recommended Posts

I thought I was paleo and close to Whole 30 compliant!

Here's what I learned yesterday:

Hot sauce can have sugar in it - bye bye for now Sriracha! ;(

Cooking veggies is better for those of us with bloating issues.

In order to detox from sugar I need to not eat ANY - even a teeny bit sabotages my efforts.

Curry powder can have salt in it.  Almost ruined 1 1/2 lbs of grass-fed organic ground beef.  Salvageable, but barely.

I can eat more than I thought at one meal. I realized that while compliant, I was snacking all day.

I need more sleep.

Oh, I'm sure there were more...

Doing well and thriving!  Woof!

Nom Nom Paleo has a recipe for Sriracha without sugar. I think it may have dates so hopefully that works for you. Regular Franks Hot Sauce is compliant (not their wing sauce). Read the label just in case they changed their ingredients.

Is there a reason you are avoiding salt? The whole30 doesn't restrict salt. Actually you need to add more salt to your food because you are not eating processed foods which are very high is salt.

Good Luck!

Kind of losing track of some days here.  Day 3 I was exhausted and slept 9 hours, day 4 still tired, but could only manage 6 hours.  I'm hoping the tiredness evens out and I can get in a nice 7.5 hours which makes my body happy. Planning an easy workout tonight - walking and a little yoga, just can't deal with the swim right now.

Day 5 - still feeling energized early in the day but face-plant-on-the-bed-the-minute-you-get-home tired in the evening. Another 9 hour sleep night.

Eating well and compliant, but still really bloated after lunch and dinner last night and can't figure out the cause.  I am taking Enzymes, probiotics and kombucha.  Suggestions?

We can give you suggestions but you have to post what you are eating so we can see. :)

I can't seem to locate the post with what to expect on Day 1, 2, 3, etc.  Can someone point me in the right direction?

Day 10.  Too busy!  Too busy cooking, shopping, planning so I can eat properly.  Luckily, I don't mind eating the same thing for a few days in a row.  I guess all the busy-ness of doing this challenge will calm down and become routine after a while.

Having problems with feeling nauseous.  About 1/2 way through a meal I start to feel yucky, but usually press on to finish so I won't be hungry later.  Sometimes before a meal, when I am hungry - rumbly and with that slightly wobbly low blood sugar thing, the idea of eating makes me feel sick.  Today at lunch I made my lunch plate of burger patty w/ mustard, steamed green beans and beets with vinegar and oil and ate a little.  Started to feel bloated and queasy, so decided to quit half way through and maybe finish later.

Any suggestions?

I don't know if it matters, but I am quite small - 4'10 and 120 lbs +/-.

Don't want to sound negative, because I love this program and feel great mostly.  Just need to figure out the meal thing.
