bekahellen
This is my second Whole30 and so far it is a breeze! (On day 5). I have been doing much better than my first one... I only have been eating about one serving of fruit each day and have only had almond butter once. I'm eating a ton more vegetables. Problem: My 20th birthday is on Sunday. I thought I could make it through just fine eating only Whole30 foods, but I'm actually really starting to regret doing the Whole30 this month. Yes, it's definitely an emotional thing since I'm already dreading turning 20 as it is. I just don't want to spend my birthday worrying about not eating cake. Since it's my second Whole30, I feel like I could handle eating a Paleo-ified dessert and then getting right back on track for the remaining 20 days. I wouldn't even use honey or other natural sweeteners. Even after my first Whole30, I ate compliant meals probably 80% of the time and felt great. I really think I can handle it. But then again, I really don't want to fall off the wagon and go back to my carby-sugary ways. I'm so going back and forth on this... help! I am trying to plan fun things like going to an organic restaurant for eggs and local, grass-fed meat, and then go hiking.
Tina R
Remember day 10 is the day most people want to quit, even if it is your second whole30. I make sure I don't have any celebrations during my whole30 for this reason. If you decide to indulge then I would start over for a new whole30. Or maybe you could celebrate being 20 some other way. If you live to be 100 you have 80 more birthdays to eat cake. If you think 20 is a hard birthday you aren't going to be happy when you are 40 or 60. Remember it's only a number. Happy birthday! tiva
What's your favorite protein? Steak? Lobster? Shrimp? Make a steak cake--a lovely piece of your favorite steak, decorated with parsley and frosted with a little whipped ghee. You can make something funny and cute for all your friends to admire. Or you can just treat yourself to your favorite compliant treats. You can still make a fuss about your birthday and do something to make yourself feel special without going off plan. Or, you can make a paleo cake, and then start the Whole30 at day 1 the day after your birthday.
