bevie19
Hello, I am new to the Whole30 and wanted to start tomorrow (or Monday) but will be traveling out of the country 2 weeks after I start. Can I do at lest 2 weeks on the Whole30 (Whole14?) and then restart when I return? Or should I wait to do the Whole30 when I return in July? I'm excited to start now! Tina R
Is this your first whole30? You can do this if you want, just remember that during your first whole30 you have all the energy and enthusiasm because it is new, you may not feel as motivated after your trip. I think anytime is a good time to eat healthy. You might want to use the next two weeks to try out some new whole30 recipes but no necessarily do a whole30/14. It is up to you. Good Luck! GlennR
Better to do it after your trip (though you can already start eating cleaner now to get ready). Here's why: doing just the first half of the Whole30 might mean you go through all the pain (headaches, carb-flu, fatigue, etc.), without the benefit of the gain that usually takes place in the second half. Not a good way to experience it for the first time. Abbreviated Whole30s (Whole14s, Whole7s) are best done after you've completed your Whole30. They help you re-set when you find yourself straying too far into unhealthy eating again.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted June 7, 2014 Moderators Share Posted June 7, 2014 The Whole30 is set to 30 days because many people don't feel great during the first two weeks and need the last half of the experience to recognize the benefit of the changes they have made. Some people feel good quicker, but you can't count on having a good experience in 2 weeks like you can in a full 30 days. That said, you can use the two weeks you have to make some healthy eating progress, just understand that you might not get to the benefits in half the time.
