Lady Comer
Today is Day 15 of my Whole30 and I've noticed that my lower abdomen area has been expanding. I have been sticking to the plan and eating mostly vegetables, sliced beef, and fruit. I have been craving more fruit lately and I'm wondering if this is causing the abdomen expansion. It does not feel really bloated, just as if weight is being added in the region. Any thoughts?

Physibeth
Can you be more specific about your food? Maybe post the last 3-4 days of your food log? Also include your sleep, activity levels, stress levels, and water intake.
Peebles
Same problem here (although I haven't had any fruit). :/

GFChris
I wonder whether you're eating enough? When eggs are your protein, the serving size is the number of eggs you can hold in one hand. For most folks, that's at least 3-4.It's hard to tell what you're having for portion sizes on veggies: be sure you're having 1-3 cup's worth per meal. On the beef, make sure you're getting a portion that's 1-2 palm sizes per meal.Nuts and raw veggies can cause bloating for some. Maybe cut back on both for a few days, and see if you feel better? The amount of water to aim for is 1/2 an ounce of water per pound of your current body weight, daily. In between meal snacks, the recommendation (only if you are truly hungry) is to have a mini-meal containing a protein and fat. Save your 1-2 daily servings of fruit to have with with or immediately after your main meals only.
Kmlynne
It took almost a full month for my gut to adjust to my new way of eating. Even now (day 47), I have days when I feel "full" (not bloated) and heavy in my lower ab. Usually resolves when I can go to the bathroom - it's like my gut has never had to deal with that feeling before! I have also noticed that I feel the same way during that time of the month. Like Chris said, cut back on nuts and raw veggies. Make sure you are eating enough and drink PLENTY of water. Stay in tune with your body - it will tell you when things are right! Food purists say you're not supposed to mix fruit with vegetables, but I don't think that matters on Whole 30. I would eliminate mid-day fruit and stick to our 3 meals aday. Lady Comer
Thank you for the feedback! I definitely am eating enough, perhaps even too much. As I went to take a shower after dinner I noticed that my abdomen is really protruding. I've also heard that you shouldn't really mix vegetables and fruit and now I'm wondering if that's the case. However, lately I've been ravenous for fruit...could this be a sugar thing, an imbalance of sorts?
