I'm starting today as well. Read the book a few weeks ago. Have been dabbling in paleo off and on for a couple of years. Started eating whole30 about 2 weeks ago but have been babystepping into an official 30 day stint.

I'm in!

I've been on paleo but with dairy for a couple of years. I've lost about 30KG in that time, mostly through bursts of doing it strict for a couple of months at a time and then maintaining the same weight with 80% effort.

I love the challenge of the whole30 and it will keep me in check. I'm pretty absolute when it comes to personal growth and diet. I like to do it strict or I fall off the path too easy.

Also from doing relatively strict paleo before I'm used to the feeling of being hungry for the first few days and I know it will pass. I also know how great it feels after 2 weeks of clean eating and no added sugar. You can taste the sweetness in vegetables you never thought had any before.

The biggest challenges I've found before is not having the will power when life throws you some disappointment. You have to tell yourself to keep going and to look back at what you've done so far and be proud and tell yourself that you're proud of yourself.

Two thumbs up for me. The first week is usually the easiest for me, though, as I'm excited to be started.

I did my grocery shopping last night, and while I usually eat a lot of veggies, my cart was a little fuller of them than usual last night. It reminded me of why I love the Whole30: it makes me eat mindfully. Everything I put into my body has thought behind it and is going into my body for a reason. I hope that after this W30 (my third), I'll remember to apply that mindfulness to everything I eat, even and especially the off-plan stuff.

I scored at the store last night, and found some turkey thighs on clearance and some broccoli slaw (the shredded veggies) on clearance as well. I baked the turkey and made a batch of mayo to mix in with the slaw, and made green beans to go with. It was all, of course, delicious.

Day 2 - all good here. Wanted a bit of sugar after dinner last night (used to a small piece of dark choc to finish my day). But plugged through it. Up with the puppy for a long walk this a.m. My lunch is packed - roasted chicken leg quarter, salad with veggies, boiled egg, avocado and homemade V&O dressing.

Good stuff.

Wow, day 3 and seeing just how messed up my blood sugar/hormonal system is.  Sleep remains a challenge, it's interesting to see how my body is reacting.  I pick up my first CSA share from the farmer's market today.  Greens, here I come!

Day 3 fatigue has hit. Going to try to drink more water today, less coffee, and get to bed early tonight.

I've decided to take pictures of all my dinners this month to post on Facebook so my friends and family can be jealous of my "restrictive" diet. ^^

Day 2 went well. Not too hungry and still a few sweet cravings. Sleeping is going well - though not usually a problem. Heavy lifting session tonight. Yay.

Fresh garden greens in my lunch today thanks to a co-worker.

Just getting used to forum and found this thread! I started Monday as well. Have been yawning all day and definitely have felt hungry. My biggest accomplishment has been telling my friends and family that I'm doing this. I'm trying to build some external support. I've always kept attempts at eating healthier a secret- I think it was fear of public failure? Anyway, looking forward to accomplishing this goal of doing Whole30!

I started on Monday, too. So far, so good. Interestingly one of the things I'm missing most right now is gum. I think I need to start carrying around a toothbrush/toothpaste. Sometimes I think about how much 'easier' it would be just to eat whatever...I try to remind myself that what I think is easy now serves me no good.

I started Monday too. Mostly a lot of fatigue but so far loving the food I'm cooking.

What food have you been cooking? I was excited for the first 3 days and now am already a little blah about the lunch I packed today. I know enjoying the food and planning is key to success so I love hearing what others are eating.

Day 4! Feels good. I think easing into it for a couple of weeks first helped me transition.

Lunch today is a green salad with my own V&O dressing. I will also make my own tuna salad with paleo mayo, boiled egg, chopped pickles (no sugar), chopped onion.

Dinner tonight is grilled burgers that I will top with homemade guac. Will add some roasted veggies as well.

Last night my dinner was super yummy - 2 applegate hot dogs topped with mustard (no sugar) and chopped onion, roasted broccoli with bacon, and a sliced avocado.
