mesqueo
Hi all, I'm on my second consecutive Whole 30, Day 50. My clothes are fitting better, I feel happier, and have started cross fit. I have a long way to go to get to a healthy weight 40 more pounds. Is there anyone in the group that has stayed on Whole 30 indefinitely instead of transitioning to Paleo? I should note that the hardest thing for me has been giving up my glass of red wine on the weekend. I have had 3 in 50 days, a true accomplishment in itself. Though I have not posted in this group, I have read most of the posts and gotten a lot of info and inspiration from all of you, thank you!
Moderators Tom Denham Posted June 10, 2014 Moderators Share Posted June 10, 2014 No one stays on the Whole30 for more than a few months at a time, although plenty of people eat Whole30-style on an ongoing basis. You do understand that if you have drunk wine in the past 50 days, you are not on day 50 of a Whole30? Taking a drink of alcohol automatically pushes the reset button of a Whole30. missmary
Is there anyone in the group that has stayed on Whole 30 indefinitely instead of transitioning to Paleo? There is a reason the whole30 is a whole30, not a whole365. Part of the program--in some ways, the hardest part--is taking what you learn in the 30 day timeframe and figuring out how that works for you long term. Life happens. Sometimes you might decide that a glass of wine is worth it, for example, and when you make that decision you are not doing a whole30 anymore. The choices are yours then, and you have to take responsibility for them yourself. This is a good thing. I would encourage you not to do a series of whole30s without stopping and not to transition to "paleo" or "primal" but to find a way of eating that works for you independent of such labels. You decide what foods work for you and with what frequency, and eat that way. That said: have you done a single whole30 so far? one without any wine or any off plan foods at all for 30 days in a row? If you haven't done that at least once, I would give 100% compliance a try first, then start reintros and personal customization from there.
