I think I inadvertently ruined my Whole 30!

Recommended Posts

I am doing sooooo good on the Whole 30. Love my freedom from measuring food! I went to dinner last night and had baked sweet potato fries. I asked what was in them ....the said "sweet potatos, salt and pepper. That's all".

After eating about 4 or 5 I realized they were slightly oily. I asked for a list of ingredients ...... Good news it was olive oil. Bad news a laundry list of chemicals and processed junk including sugar.

So do I have to throw away 11 perfect days? I am so angry and and bummed out!

Do I really have to start over?

Please tell me if I totally blew it.

Actually, this was a really good thing. You learned that a waiter may tell you sweet potatoes, salt, and pepper, but the reality is your food comes with other ingredients. That is good to know. The sugar with the fries is not worthy of a restart. The laundry list of chemicals is questionable. The Whole30 rules call out 3 additives as worthy of a restart - MSG, added sulphites, or carrageenan. If the laundry list included any of those, you need to restart, if they did not include them or another off-plan ingredient, you can just keep going, wiser than you were before.
