I am on day 6 of the whole 30 and am struggling. I saw the recent fb post about how day 6 can be hard and have been reading that it gets easier after the first 7 days. CRAVINGS! I still want ice cream, popcorn, chips, etc...but the worst is alcohol. It is really hard to be social and not have a drink when my friends are. How do you deal with the cravings??

Also, I want to lose a few pounds and people say to cut fruit and nuts for this. I feel like it would be even more difficult to live off of only meat and veggies for 30 days when I normally wouldn't be eating meat even once a day (off whole30). Any other suggestions diet-wise?

Follow the meal template and you'll be fine.. Don't worry about all the tweaks people invent along THEIR journey.. Just follow the plan as its written, some nuts occasional are fine and a few (2) pieces of fruit a day are fine..

Oh the cravings.....I still have them and it's been almost 4 months post whole30.  They aren't as often, but can be as strong.  I think for some of us, our bodies like using sugar as an energy source and it just craves it.  As far as alcohol, I consider it just the same as a snickers bar, ice cream etc etc.  It's sugar and my body is happy to use it as fuel.  I crave a beer every day at 4pm or so.  I'm hungry and it's getting close to dinner.  Previously I would have a couple beers while making dinner to curb my hunger.  But basically (my opinion) was I was just giving myself a big sugar hit to get through the evening.  Doing the whole30 really made me realize that I'm a horrible sugar addict and my sugar is coming in all forms...a lot of which I didn't even see.  I was getting sugar through beer, fruit flavored greek yogurt (Fage strawberry was my favorite), as well as many other foods I never suspected.  Only when I took them out and started craving them, did I realize that they were feeding my sugar dragon.

It's a daily battle.

As far as social drinking... pour some club soda over ice and squeeze a lime in it and drop the lime on top.  It looks like a gin and tonic and you have something in your hand.  Be strong :)

I don't  bother to impress the people drinking alcohol nor do I feel the need to fake it.. I drink Water, plain ole Water..

But its true, the drinking club wants everyone to be a member.  I'm not against booze and drinking,, its just not my thing.
