LindaLee
Not sure if this is the right place for this, but my one successful Whole30 was completed with the help of this forum, so as I plan to embark on another one starting tomorrow, I am hoping for some additional support. I continue to have the same struggle over and over again with my old nemesis: SUGAR. I truly am desperate to overcome this, but have come to the conclusion that I need help, support, assistance...in some terms, a sponsor. Someone I can text or email when I'm teetering on the edge of giving in to the sugar cravings, to talk about WHY I want to emotionally eat. Not a therapist...and not one of my friends (too embarrassing)...really a COACH that I can talk to. This forum really helped me last year when I completed my first Whole30. Then I slipped back into old ways...Paleo all day, stupid sugar stuff at night...then in the fall I did a 56-day Lurong Living challenge with amazing results!! Then...you guessed it...back to my old ways. I really, really want to adopt this as a lifestyle, so I want to do a Whole100, to really ingrain the principles in my head. If there is someone who is willing to share phone numbers so we can text (or PM on Facebook) for those "in the moment" struggles, I would be so grateful. And if it's someone I can do the same for, so much the better - it helps me to help others. I truly want to change my life and get so discouraged and demoralized when I slip back into old ways, and realize months later how long I've been doing it. Thanking you in advance!! LindaLee
It's 8:00 on day 1 and so far, so good. Trying to not beat myself up too much for past bad choices and just look forward. Have "Made to Crave" sitting on my desk. Good morning!
Anipi
Hi Linda, I love the idea of a diet buddy. I am not keen on phone conversations but email or facebook would be great. My email is [email protected] so far I am not getting on very well with the forum and finding it difficult to navigate my way around. Anyway, if you fancy emailing me it would be great to hear from you. Anita

WholeAlaska
Way to go Linda! The most important step is that first one, now your feet are on the path and all you have to focus on is moving forward.. I don't crave sweets that much, if I do I will snack on some fruit, but even there I have to be careful. My danger times are in the evening after a long day (I rise REALLY early, workout, and get to work super early as my clients are mostly east coast and I am in AK). By 6PM I am beat and ready to eat. Unfortunately, my favorite place for said dinner is while watching some TV and unwinding, and even more unfortunately after years of conditioning myself watching TV equates to snacking just like going to the movies equates to having popcorn. I hate to do it, as I am so tired and just want a little "do nothing" time, but what seems to do the trick is to have that meal then go DO something.. Anything really, doesn't have to require a lot of thought or even exertion, just not sitting down in front of a decades long trigger to eat without hunger. In short, it is not the cravings so much as the trigger point of those cravings. If I remove the trigger, even though I grumble about it, things go much easier. Given you mentioned night time cravings, you might have a similar trigger that you have conditioned yourself to over the years and avoiding it may make the fight easier for you.. Just a thought.. Either way, hang in there, fight your way back, and create some new healthy triggers for yourself. They say it only takes 3 weeks to make or break a habit, so you can reprogram these things in about the same time frame as Whole30
MeadowLily
Merely a suggestion, I would throw the "Made to Crave" sign in the bin. Out of the abundance of our hearts..... our mouths speak. You're starting off with a new narrative and you want your cupboards, fridge and frame of mind to all line up. You could replace it with a framed photo of a beautiful vegetable arrangement as a visual cue.

LindaLee
Just to clarify...the "Made to Crave" refers to our being made to crave God, but our earthly selves subbing food and other material pleasures for that. My faith is critical to my success, because of my desire to be self-disciplined for God, and the book and devotional give me scripture and spiritual sustenance and recourse when I'm craving something unhealthy. The Whole30 forum and Facebook page help in the same way!
LindaLee
I made it through a big craving time for me - right after Crossfit! But in a little while, I have to walk into temptation, LOL - the very health food store where I buy organic sweet potatoes (for the 4th of July tomorrow) is where the evil Enjoy Life cookies live. Pray I will be delivered from evil!!
LindaLee
Made it through the Earth Mither obstacle! (I need a Whole30 video game, lol) Next up: 2 hour trip with diabetic kitty to be with husband and stepson. Having kitty is good, because it means NO STOPPING.
