karensa
My 13 month old daughter's ped gave us the go ahead to sub Almond milk for cow's milk. I want to make sure that she is getting sufficient fat for brain development so I am going to feed her a Whole 30 with some things like paleo muffins in there. Any thoughts on serving sizes of fats for her age? She loves olives and guacamole, so I can give her those. I can put olive oil on her veggies and I cook exclusively with coconut oil. I just don't want to give her too much or too little.
missmary
the beauty of the meal template is that it scales to fit the person you are feeding. A portion of fat should be the size of her thumb (or two) a portion of protein, the size of her palm (or two). http://whole30.com/downloads/whole30-meal-planning.pdf
AmyS
Also, don't worry about the three meals a day with a toddler. Just let her eat.
missmary
Also, don't worry about the three meals a day with a toddler. Just let her eat. Agreed. Toddlers are really good at listening to hunger cues. Offer the template as a minimum, but if she ever seems hungry or wants more, go for it.
Robin Strathdee
For fat sources, I'd also suggest introducing things like egg yolks, avocado and home-made mayo instead of muffins
peacefrog
I give my baby bone broth without the fat skimmed off it. He loves it. Also meat of all kinds, chopped very small.
