Cody_Calahan
Today is the beginning of a completely new time in my life. I know the Whole30 is designed as a 30 day experiment, but I hope to make it more of a permanent lifestyle. I've spent a lot of time reading about the benefits of eating a whole foods diet and I know how amazing it can be, but until I found Dallas and Melissa's tough love approach to making this change, I didn't know if I could do it. I am over the moon excited about starting and can't wait to share my journey with you all. I spent a few hours last night shopping, cleaning, chopping, boiling, roasting, baking and sautéing. I took my before photos (as embarrassing as they are), weighed myself and then hid my scale, and took some measurements for reference after. I just barely got "It Starts With Food" a few days ago so I still have some reading ahead of me, but at least I have the website and forums to help in the meantime. I look forward to sharing my journey, recipes, struggles and triumphs with you all. -Cody

Cody_Calahan
DAY 1: Well I finished my first day yesterday and it went pretty well. Got up earlier to actually make my breakfast and get my lunch ready. I didn't really experience a lot of hunger pangs like I was thinking I was going to, but I did find myself getting hungry faster than I'd expected. I think I will increase my protein and healthy fats intake so I don't find myself starving only two hours after eating a full meal. I also need to spend some more time finding some recipes since I'm not great at just throwing things together into a great meal. But I expect by the end of this I'll have some really great ones to use more often. M1: Sweet Potato & Egg Muffins with Sliced Banana M2: Chicken Breast, Spaghetti Squash, Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Balsamic Vinegar, and Carrots M3: Strawberries (halved), 1 Squeezed Key Lime, 1/2 Tbsp. Shredded Unsweetened Coconut (this wasn't so much a full meal since work was busy and I didn't want to eat a huge meal before bed. I just want to stave off the hunger beast)
drjeni
Good luck on your journey!! I found the meal template for weeks 1 & 2 on theclothesmakethegirl.com really helpful for just getting started. I'm in week 4 now and much better at throwing meals together planning is key plus having stuff ready to throw together is important and she gives great tips on that! I had a hard time with the fat at first, looks like your M1 & M2 might have needed more fat, and embracing it really staves off the hunger beast. Have a wonderful whole30!
