leeamlee
I'm new to whole 30 and I'm wondering if I can have canned water chestnuts? I put them on everything, I tried finding a organic brand at my local Co-Op and of course they don't have them. The can I have now says 2 grams of sugar, So I'm guessing thats a no? What do you guys use for that extra snap and crunch?
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted August 6, 2014 Moderators Share Posted August 6, 2014 You have to check the ingredients, not the nutrition facts. If sugar or other off-plan ingredients aren't listed, it should be okay.
bede0713
I'm not sure what the ingredients say but if they don't work for Whole30 try Jicama - I love it and it's got that perfect crunch - much like water chesnuts. You can find it in the produce section.

Jinkse21
See if there are any local Asian markets near you. Sometimes they carry fresh water chestnuts that you just peel and eat whole or slice. They taste so much better!
