CC and Joni, buy liquid coconut oil that doesn't separate.  It works great on your dog's teeth, too.

I've been using on my teeth, it makes  them white and no harm.  I use Nature's Way Liquid Coconut Oil.  They have it at Walgreens on the right side of the vities...far right.  Aren't all of their stores alike?  It mixes with anything.

Meadow thanks for the kind words!

I think coconut oil is great for teeth. Costco also sells big tubs of organic coconut oil.

CC I went chemical free with all my bath/body/face/makeup/hair/hair color products in 2012. I think it has made a real difference in the way I feel, allergies etc. There are some great companies out there making REALLY natural stuff - just like food you have to check all the ingredients carefully - and there are also tons of things you can make yourself including soap, lotions, lip balm etc. I go to an organic hair salon where they only use chemical free color. Etc. I'd like to stop coloring my hair but unfortunately in my industry I compete for work with twenty something year olds so it doesn't really serve me to have grey hair!

Everyone I have been remiss about posting the IOD recipes this evening and will have them up in just a few minutes!

Tomorrow's IOD suggestion is - Interesting Greens – Dandelion, Nettle, Watercress, Mache, Bok Choy!!

I don't have to sell you on interesting greens - they are interesting, and they are green. These are the things you see at the supermarket/farmer's market and think "that looks good - but what do I do with it?" There are many many more interesting greens out there that you can experiment with and enjoy!  Greens are so very good for you - get adventurous with those greens! Many of these are also incredibly easy to grow.

I woke up this morning so bummed I'd ruined my Whole30 by eating a piece of chocolate cake last night... then I realized it was a DREAM!! Ha. I don't love that I'm dreaming about eating cake, but it's much better than actually doing it!! : )-

Halfway done - with success. Yay!!

Good morning friends!

Quiet time on the board yesterday afternoon for this group-   I hope that means everyone was enjoying in person friendship or a much needed break from electronics!

A few things I did notice.... Meadow.... I think you have more than "catch and release" as a tactic to keep us on our toes....  did I detect a bit of "bait and switch" on post #609?   I am quite sure that the beautiful pic of cows and mountains that I "liked"  used to be some witty saying about ingredients......   but I do like that grassfed beef, so all is good.

Deb.....do you sleep?

I love that the IOD is greens, especially after reading a bit about more about Terry Wahls (3 cups a day of greens alone!!).   My favorite way to add greens is the Organic Girl Supergreens -  a mix of spinach, kale, arugula, chard, and  tat soi (that is the touch of exotic)

My AWARE moment this morning.... before the scale disappeared I would not even take a drink of water before I would weigh myself!  This morning I was thirsty waking up and by habit almost stopped myself from taking a drink...... and then I happily drank a whole glass sitting on my nightstand before I even stood up.   And I thought my habit of weighing myself was no big deal!     I am contemplating making an affirmation board  to put in the spot in the bathroom where the scale stood ... much better to face the day with "Good morning BEST  friend.... look at you today!

One of the other words I am contemplating for longer term..... Contented..... got some play this morning in my Whole30 daily....  Check out this great link http://zenhabits.net/contented/

‘Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are.

When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.’

Deb, thank you for the wonderful IOD's. I adored the article in the NYT.

I'm off to the gym kids. I have lots of veggies cut and am trying to focus more on veggies than fruit, so all of those lovely greens will help! I have leftover bbq chicken (no organ meats, sorry Deb. Next time we meet, maybe you can introduce me to your Pate...but I'm already scared - promise not to take it personally if I don't like it.)

No matter what time I get up, I get to the gym around 5:15, need to start getting there around 4:40 starting Thursday, cause we're back in school ...Wow.

Make it a great day.

Miki

A win for Win!!!     Does anyone in this group do guided dreaming?  do any of the experienced folks dream of greens instead of cake?

More on tat soi, with a weeks worth of recipes and pics!

(Warning-   all the recipes they list are not Whole30 but look quite adaptable)

I don't do any guided dreaming.  I just go with the flow.

I did have a dream last night.  I think it's because I've added new foods this week.  It has to be and I'm sleeping like I'm knocked out again.

I dreamt I caught my old boss in the stairwell with a famous celebrity woman.   I opened up the door and there he was in the corner...but sneaking up the stairs further down, I saw this enormous black paw ready to make a swipe.   I knew it was a black bear.   So I closed the door and ran.

I ran into a vehicle shop where they change your oil, etc.   I jumped on top of one of those car hoists.  It kept going up and up.  It was very scary.  I told myself, "don't worry, it can hold a car and it can hold you".

But I soon realized that the hoist was made out of heavy cardboard with flat carpeting on it.   It began to curl and buckle.   Pretty soon,  my legs and arms were hanging off like a frog.  The only part of the hoist left was the cylinder.  I was up there and then I woke up.

I wouldn't want to guide my dreams.  I'd miss the element of surprise.

Win - you are wrong! Eating cake is much better than dreaming about it.

As we heal our body, we need to heal our hearts as well. Tomorrow (Wednesday) I want everyone to do something for someone else. Send a loved one a card or letter, pay for the coffe for the car behind you at the drive thru coffee shop, hold a door for someone one, save a starving kid in Africa, pay for a magazine subscription for a friend, make a meal for someone, call a friend or family member and make them happy!

In addition, I need jumping jacks, squats, push-ups, sit-ups, stair climbing, long walks.......DO SOMETHING for just a few minutes. Don't hurt yourself, just do something extra today. You don't have to do all of them, just pick one or two and DO IT! If you are already an exercise freak....GOOD...add this to your workout also.

We are blowing right thru this W30....it will be over before you know it. You are all doing very well, I need to hear some whining and complaining to be sure that everyone is being compliant. Tiger Blood is coming....Meadow brings it in big jars and passes it out.....make sure you are there to accept it.

Dave

Find your friend in the mirror, say something nice to them......remind yourself how much you weigh (the weight you want to be) and know that you are moving closer to that goal even though you CAN NOT weigh yourself for a few more weeks.

Thursday's chore: do a crossword puzzle......COMPLETELY! Excercise your brain a bit.....it's amazing what a little brain stimulation can do for your mood and self worth.

Darling Dave,

This is Miki-126 reporting for duty. Just ran into the bosses office and did a few crunches (she's out and no one goes in there).  I'm feelin GREAT. Have grilled chick and vegies for lunch.

Meadow, I think I got my delivery of Tiger-blood this weekend!

Deb, the greens will be easier to do.

Kat, Joni and all the other new folk, keep up the good work.

the scale still sits in my house and I have to look at it cuz both of my sons are trying to gain weight...KIDS! But like others, I'm enjoying the freedom and not having my day ruined when the scale reorganizes my last two numbers and then adds 10 pounds to it.

The dream stories are awesome. Exercise my brain? Is phone scrabble ok?

Hi everyone! I will finish my 1st W30 tomorrow...and I have seen/felt differences, but due to my autoimmune disease (Hoshimoto's), I feel I would benefit from a W30 + AIP. I would like the motivation/encouragement from others doing this program/have done this program. I had thought I would start fresh next Monday 8/25. Would I be able to join this group then? I know you are starting 8/21. Deb C. recommended this group to me! :-)

Where have you been?

attachicon.gifphoto 1.JPG

Miks and I had such a lovely afternoon and evening. Please note that she has been hiding her cooking skills under a bushel and put out the most spectacular and delicious Whole30 AIP spread including some bodacious brussels sprouts in bacon fat with bacon, delish grilled zucchini and carrots, carved radish flowers!!! beautiful farmers market green salad with edible flowers, yummmmm grilled steak and grilled chicken, sexy cauliflower rice, and last of the sweet summer gorgeous watermelon! IT WAS AMAZING AND I AM SO SO SO SO GRATEFUL. I never go anywhere where I can eat safely, well and in abundance so it was all the bigger blessing and SO YUMMY. Thank you so very very much my dear friend, so very much appreciated.  attachicon.gifphoto 2.JPG (not all shown here!)

Yes, I also wanted to take bites out of those delicious cats (Miki did I see Cho following you down the street as I left lol) and the jacuzzi was wonderful.

Oh, we also made a collage card for Steve! Coming your way soon Laurie.

Hello flyers partners, Captain Dave and all our wonderful Cruise!

For Gallbladder purposes note to self, do not put coconut milk/cream in my coffee ever again, I am paying it at a high price and it does not feel good. It is a little challenging to do this w/o a gallbladder, but not impossible. Will keep trying and for now, black straight coffee will do it. And I added a smoothie, more veggies than anything else, 1/2 cucumber, 2 ribs of celery, few leaves of basil, green leaf lettuce (2 cups), 1c of mango, 1 c of pinneapple, 1" fresh ginger, 1 c ccoconut water. It felt soooo good after the coffee indigestion, that I even not feeling guilty anymore.

Tuna for lunch, but just got a call that I will have some business lunch, so will save my tuna for tomorrow.  First day of school survived for my son, and we are planning to look for a good gluten free bread for him to take sandwiches for lunch, getting him on the gluten free boat, he shows same signs on his arms and repetitive allergies like me.  We are going with a Allergist/Immune Doctor, not for medicine, but for testing for allergies, I think that will help to heal better.

My 140 Lbs feel so AWESOME in my body and in my mind! Thanks for that trick Captain Dave.

-CCLaymon, I would love to be able to process the coconut milk/cream, but noooo, I cannot digest it :-(

- Outdorsgrl - I was an avid runner and Hashis took it away from me after the Thyroid removal I completed 1 half marathon and 10k, and then ever since I tried 3 or 5 milers run, I crushed for 2-3 days after, so I stopped and I do yoga now. My doctor says that is better to don't exert our glands and make the body to extra work to give us energy.  But I was telling my husband that I feel that kind of energy to go for a jog. I may try at least 2-3 miles and see how it feel later. I miss that so much!

- Ann - for headaches I had a lot of success and they dissappear using doTERRA EO Peppermint, and a couple of blends called: Past Tense and Deep Blue.  Let me know if you want more info. I did not use them all at the same time. But three of them work awesome for headaches.  If trying another brand (there are a few good ones out there), just make sure they are 100% pure and natural for real, otherwise the synthetic component or ingredients mess up with our hormones.

- CCLaymon, Enjoy your son, they all grow so fast, my little one started 8th grade yesterday.  When we travel always I pack a cooler with foods to avoid "food from the street" as I call it. Sandwiches, fruits, snap peas, iced tea, nuts, olives... The family loves it!

- For the IOD I would have to give another try to the spaghetti squash, since I made it once, and it was nasty, hahaha, and I am a cook, I was not fond of its texture. But with so many recipes, and tips here, will try it again.

- Laurie, sorry for all you are going through at home.  Chemo/Radio, sucks but it helps to heal sometimes.  I hear sore mouth and throat.  Would you mind to tell me what kind of cancer is that? I had a tumor removed from my parotid gland March 2012, big sucker 3x4" in that little space.  Slow recovery, then the Thyroid cancer, but thank God we are all here. And we support each other.

Every body else I am missing, have a fantastic day, keep flying high, and take it one meal at a time! :-)

Much love,

Nanny...whatcha doin'.
