Apple Cider Vinegar

Recommended Posts

I will be starting another W30 with AIP...and I am confused about apple cider vinegar. I am also following a low FODMAP. With a low FODMAP, I am supposed to avoid apples. Apple cider vinegar is made with organic apples. Should I be avoiding it?!?!?! Thanks! :-)

What is the "mother?"

What makes naturally fermented ACV great is the probiotic content. Other foods/drinks with probiotics include kombucha and sauerkraut, pickles, cultured carrots..basically there are lots of possibilities to get probiotics that don't include apple, so have some of those.

Gee, I didn't know we were supposed to avoid Apple cider vinegar.  I haven't used much - just through a little into a dressing yesterday.  I only chose it above other vinegars because of its reported health benefits.  I couldn't care less for it, really.

So what vinegar should I be using?  Thanks.

The "mother" is like the scoby in kombucha, it's the probiotic part.

The only reason to avoid ACV is if you avoid apples because of the FODMAP content :) Apples and pears are very common, but for people who can't have FODMAPs, makes them feel really crappy in the stomach.
