first of all thank you everyone for all your support!

I feel sooo much better today.

I won't be going for anything beyond 30 but I may lurk and see how you all are doing.  I will me making recipes though and altering my lifestyle a bit.  I woke up feeling much more energized.  Last night was hard and great at the same time - went out to dinner with friends (very healthy friends, they ordered some apps (all healthy I just couldn't eat them) and I was nervous to order with my restrictions but I did apologetically and then the waitress said - "no worries, if listed the things I can't eat, we'd be here all night!" and then she and I chatted for a few minutes while my friends picked their wine.  Then at book club I stared down the cheese and homemade treats (some of you say you don't want it, wow and good for you - that just isn't me, I drooled all night) but didn't succumb.  Came home and made a baked sweet potato for part of my lunch today and fell asleep.

clothes are looser - day 16 is here!  on to open school night!! still need to try mayo and ketchup.  I know someone offered to list her dishes she likes - I would love that!

This is a great forum - you're all wonderful

What a challenge Kerbi!  But you did it!!  I don't know if you've watched Fed UP - I can't remember who has and who hasn't - but it has given me such added desire to do this - to free my body of old habits and routines and the sugar that is hiding everywhere.

It was me who offered to post my meals we've liked.  I'll grab the list and type it out today.  I'd love to see lists of others favourites!

I haven't watched it but I guess I should - maybe Fri night I will.  We eat a pretty healthy diet, there is very little processed food it in (I'm a pretty big cook, I just have a big sweet tooth which has always been my issue).  This has been a interesting learning experience for me.  Some nights when I come home I can even eat my kids' leftovers bc they are compliant (wild fish or meat and roasted veggies) so I feel good about what we are eating in general, it really is about the sugar.

I can give my faves so far (not sure if anyone wants them but just in case)

grass fed short ribs (nom nom)

my sister's green chicken (nom nom)

asian chicken thighs (nom nom)

turkey cranberry meatballs and czech meatballs (well fed)

chicken satay with sunshine sauce (marinade (if people want it I can come up with it) - sauce Well Fed)

choc chili (everyone has that)

Mark Bittman's curry chicken with cauliflower (w/o chick peas) from Food Matters - this was actually a life saver bc it had everything - fat, protein and veggies

I love this idea!  My favorites so far have been:

FancyPants Dinner Party (hazelnut salmon, green beans in fig vinaigrette, butternut squash puree with roasted garlic and vanilla poached pears in balsamic raspberry sauce) from It Starts With Food

Peruvian Roasted Chicken and Maduros from Nom Nom (Cookbook)

Tarragon Cream Chicken from ISWF

Flank Steak with Fingerlings and Chimichurri (found here)

Garlicky Chicken Thighs (found here)

Almond Meal Chicken Fingers (found here)

So much good food!

I haven't decided if I"m going to go past 30 days.  Right now, since I'm seeing little to no results, I don't know if I could muster up the motivation.  Someone told me yesterday that paleo just "doesn't work" for some people and that it depends on your blood type (she says Type A Blood is not compatible with Paleo).  Does anyone know anything about this?  Is it possible that I'm genetically unable to make this program work for me?  Or is she just full of it?  Haha.  I'm just a little down since I feel like I've been working SO hard (at the gym 4-6 times a week, eating completely on plan) and have seen NO results.  DEFINITELY a million miles away from the "Tiger Blood" that's supposed to be happening.

People saying they don't want off-plan things or aren't really tempted by them are lucky ducks!  I would kill someone for a pumpkin pancake (I had to forgo this particular item at Sunday brunch and my eggs were NO consolation) right now and all I can think about is that I'm not supposed to want to go back to my old ways of eating but those are the only foods that sound really good to me right now!  All the food I've made for dinners have been so tasty, but I still want cheese and wine and bread.  I can't see a time when I WON'T prefer those foods which makes me think that this won't be a sustainable lifestyle for me unless something drastically changes!  I feel miserable for not eating the things I love even though I know they aren't good for me, but since I can't see that the foods I'm eating on plan are doing anything good for me either, it makes me want the things I actually PREFER instead.  Just feeling flustered and aggravated at my lack of anything even remotely life-changing. I know it might take longer than 30 days, but if NOTHING happens in the 30 days, I can't imagine working this hard for longer without any hope of changes.

Jordanbrook - I totally agree with you - I've basically been watching foodporn all weekend and at night - things I don't even eat normally look good now (some show called carnival food - crazy).  Part of it is I just want to be normal again and part of it is just pure food enjoyment - I love cheese and sweets and I do all these things in moderation; and I want to drink a glass of wine with my friends  I spent far too many years being too sick to partake and now I can.  I think this was an excellent journey for me and I needed it but it is not a lifestyle for me.  I will lower my intake of everything but this strict lifestyle just doesn't work.  But it is great to reboot when I go crazy again like I had.  I think I will try to make these recipes once or twice a week though as a goal and bring lunch more often to work which was my biggest downfall before.

What I forgot to put in my post before was that my three friends and I have been having dinner before book club for three years now - through my crohns flares and everything and they all remarked that last night was the healthiest I looked in the time they have known me.

Jordanbrook ~ I don't know if I believe that certain blood types don't benefit from eating protein, veggies, fat and some fruit.  Doesn't seem plausible.  My guess is that you are undoing years of damage and it's going to take longer than 16 days.  ;)

Jclayton ~ I was impressed too when I saw that there are quite a number of us that are going to extend this for a significant duration.  I just keep thinking that even though we might feel a bit (or a lot) crappy right now, we're undoing various amounts and types of damage and however long that takes is how long it takes.  Sounds very positive and upbeat, I know, but if I can't kick this continuous headache I've had for 16 days, I might not be so optimistic down the road, LOL!

My meals for the last 15 days:

Breakfast

Week One & Two: Sautéed cabbage, carrots, yellow beans, some kind of already cooked meat, topped w/ two eggs

Week Three: Refried roasted potato/carrot/onion, seasoned ground turkey, bell pepper, kale all warmed/sautéed and topped w/ two eggs

(always mayo and coffee w/ coconut milk to go with!)

Lunch/Dinner

(where no veggies are noted, I did either raw cukes/tomatoes/radish or I made a veggie side or a salad)

coconut turkey burger patties

Asian pork burger patties

za'atar seasoned wild sockeye salmon

PaleOMG buffalo chicken over zoodles

Life of Pi-napple cauli rice topped with prawns (or chicken)

ground pork sautéed w/ turmeric, onions, sesame seeds and served over sautéed red cabbage & green beans

this one looked dull but was very tasty!

hamburger patty w/ crispy oven yam fries

WellFed Pina Colada chicken over zoodles

jerk meatloaf

WellFed salmon cakes (made w/ fresh wild sockeye, not canned!)

WellFed golden cauli soup with chopped up cooked chicken thighs mixed in (very hearty and filling!)

These meals were all taken as leftovers for lunch as well.  And when there was no food to eat (ha!), I made omelettes and stuffed them with whatever I could find in the fridge!

Hey laxmom! I can't post links on my work computer...but google "Coconut Wild Boar Burger Stupid Easy Paleo" and I just subbed in turkey for the wild boar.  Also I would prob cut back the smoked paprika next time as I found they were just slightly bitter.

The PaleOMG buffalo chicken is KILLER, definitely one of my all time favourites!  Google "PaleOMG Buffalo Chicken Pasta"...I use zoodles instead of spaghetti squash...just because I don't really like spag squash.

I just got back from aldi. I stood in front of the sweets for 5 mins because they have just got Turkish delight back in and then nearly cried in front of the creme patisserie filled brioche. I even picked it up and thought "bugger it all"...but then I put it down again.

I bought smoked salmon and some grapes to cheer myself up and distract me!

Hard day ;(

Britishgal ~ that sucks a LOT.  I LOVE Turkish delight....something fierce!  Stay strong....you won't feel good giving in anyway....guilt changes the flavour of food!

(on a side note, make sure there is no added sugar in your smoked salmon....)

Wishing you a better day!

Thanks ladyshanny...I spose we wouldn't be human without the occasional weak moment!

Luckily aldi smoked salmon is just salmon and salt...though I did want to shout obscenities at the 100% beef burgers with dextrose and wheat flour in the ingredients. Not so 100% then huh?

Britishgal - I have been feeling the same about many of the labels that I have been reading, lately.

After reading labels in the market and watching Fed Up - I know that clean eating is the best way to go, now.  No more processed foods for me.  Once this 30 days is up, if I want a treat, I will make sure that it is really worth it.  Mostly intend to continue close to Whole 30 but hopefully be able to add back in the occasional whole grains and dairy.  Although I now know that it will definitely be occasional and limited.

For me, the results have been too good to ignore

I know kerbi...it's 8pm so I may just go to bed soon, leave the pile of fabulous vintage clothes I'm altering till tomorrow and sleep today away!

I don't know how they get away with some of the claims labels make laxmom63...particularly on the front of the packet. We have quite strict laws but sometimes it just seems they are taking the piss! I am sick of sugar (never called sugar) in everything and the way the companies try and trick us as if we are stupid. I saw aqua on a label the other day...I obviously have no issue with water as an ingredient but call it bloody water.

I'm an advertiser's daughter and even as a small child I wasn't a fan of the way people are manipulated ;(
