Many thanks Meljane. Good luck to us both!

Day 2

Breakfast - 2 apple and leek sausage square patties fried in ghee.

Lunch - leftover mulligatawny soup (using bone broth) and 2 boiled eggs with a dash of sea salt and pepper.

Dinner - prawns in paleo mayonnaise with huge salad (tomatoes, spring onions, lettuce, celery etc etc)

I still feel fine today. No signs of the dreaded carb flu. I was a bit weak and shaky around 4pm but I had just had coffee beforehand.

I've noticed that my short (but hardly acted upon) temper was nowhere to be seen today. Usually I can feel the red mist descend over trivial things, but not today. This suggests that the nasty carbs induced mood swings? I'll keep a mental note of my temper.

I found this forum today and reading through all the posts and realising all the help at hand, I feel very motivated about the challenge now. I also bookmarked some amazing looking recipes from the Dirty30 group. Thanks guys!

Day 3

FOOD JOURNAL

Breakfast - 3 eggy crepes. 3 eggs, almond flour, arrowroot powder, cinnamon. DELISH.

---

Lunch - prawn salad (leftovers from day 2 dinner)

---

Dinner - salmon with lime and coriander. Sugar snap peas and baby potatoes with ginger, garlic and pepper.

I had some cravings today. Mostly fizzy juice. This started very early in the morning though. This must be the last remnants of all that sweetener and "fake sugars" leaving my system. 3 days in and I miss the Pepsi max etc the most. Water is obviously good but can get boring after a whole. I felt more hungry then normal just before my meals today. The baby potatoes helped curb any cravings.

Day 4

FOOD JOURNAL

Breakfast - 2 square patties of pork, apple and leek sausages with 1 fried egg, all made in ghee.

Lunch - 2 boiled eggs with a touch of salt and pepper. Portion of curried broccoli soup

Dinner - 1.5 Pork loins with "broccoli bagna couda" (look up this recipe, it is absolutely amazing)

THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS

Today has been a bit worse for cravings. They aren't cravings as such, but just a slight sadness that I can't eat all the junk from before. It's as if I'm resigned to the fact I ain't eating rubbish anymore. Which technically is a good thing as I'm not actually "tempted" by these things.

TIP OF THE DAY - surround yourself with positive outcomes from whole 30. My wife has noticed an improvement (follow her progress at rocquelaire.wordpress.com)

My sister is also doing very well. Reading through the forum helps a lot and is when I am at my most motivated.

Peace out, fellow cave persons.

Sorry for missing days 5, 6, AND 7 on the food journal front. It's been a pretty hectic few days, from date night with the mrs, to some heavy duty housework, to sick children. I haven't found the time or inclination to update this blog. However, I haven't strayed off the path off the Whole 30. In fact, I have a strange affliction that I'm not as hungry anymore. Yesterday I only had 2 meals. A breakfast (crustless quiche then big o' bacon burgers with caramelised onions and slow roasted tomatoes). Time frame for this was 8am and then 5pm. This goes against everything I believe in when it comes to healthy eating. Shouldn't I eat frequently to boost my metabolism? Or is my body simply getting enough nutrients now that I don't need anymore food?

I'll keep an eye on this.

Well done on staying on track - I know what it's like when life gets in the way!  Maybe smaller portions to spread your intake in across the day, but hey, I'm not an expert!  Are you eating enough greens?  I am having to force them down as not particularly keen, but all part of the plan.  Keep on going! Day 9 (already?)

sausage patties - apple, leek, pork mince for breakfast,

turkey, bacon, boiled egg and lots of salady salad for lunch

and sweet potato cottage pie for dinner

Probably the 2nd time I've had potato throughout the last 9 days now. I don't have a lot of potatoes usually (potato products on the other hand...!)

I have also picked the perfect time for my daughters to give me their chest infection, so am feeling pretty lousy today. Comfort food is the last thing in my mind what with my sore throat. I know going paleo is supposed to stop you getting colds etc, but our house was just a big walking germ this weekend so I'm not surprised I got it!
