Demobhappy
Hi everyone, I'm currently on day 35 and the last couple of days I've not been very hungry. I'm eating all the right stuff and I'm still really enjoying the food - I just seem to be going longer and longer before wanting my next meal. I'm faithfully sticking to the three meals a day W30 template for the time being, though I know some paleo sites encourage you to listen to your body and sometimes have less than three meals a day. Mainly I'm just interested to know whether this could be because I'm finally fat-adapted, and could cut down on the size of my meals so that I'm hungry for the next one? I did have a big plateful of breakfast (three eggs, rasher of compliant bacon, leftover Brussels sprouts/sweet potato/squash, all cooked in lard), but that was five hours ago and normally I would be hungry again by now! Moderators Tom Denham Posted September 4, 2014 Moderators Share Posted September 4, 2014 We encourage people to eat three meals per day, starting with breakfast within an hour of waking because that supports developing the best hormonal rhythms in our bodies. Until people have enjoyed good hormonal rhythms for a year, they have no business experimenting with skipping meals. I am afraid that many paleo sites do not appreciate this issue and encourage people to try things that can ultimately backfire. The breakfast you are describing is a substantial one that might hold me 5-6 hours, depending on the day. You can experiment with eating a little lighter. For example, eat the eggs and veggies, but leave out the bacon or include the bacon and veggies and eat only 2 eggs.
Demobhappy
A follow up to this - I'm still not hungry a couple of days later, and I've also noticed I've developed dark circles under my eyes. Looking back over the last few days I haven't been eating potatoes, as I've had a sensitivity to them in the past which I wanted to re-test, and by accident I think my carbs have dropped because of that (I've been having a sweet potato at breakfast but mostly salad vegetables the rest of the day). Slipping into ketosis without meaning to would explain my lack of appetite and the dark circles - I tried Atkins in the past and really didn't thrive in ketosis. I'll make sure I eat more carbs tomorrow!
GoJo09
Do you feel the lack of appetite could be related to low carb as well? Interesting about the dark under eye circle too.

Yes, I found posts online about people who were on very low carb diet with no appetite and dark circles. Upping my carbs today!
