lbh032460
Hi everyone, I started on Sept. 2 also. I am 54 and have always tried to eat healthy and feel like I've done well. I have never gone as far as completely giving up sugar, beans or dairy, I would use things that were healthier alternatives like stevia......I was not sure if I wanted to do this but I made the decision to do it in "honor" of a friend that is dying of cancer. When I read, this is not hard, dying of cancer is hard, it was easier to consider. I feel lucky because I am very stubborn and have tremendous will power once I make my mind up. Having to drink black coffee bothers me more than giving up lots of things I eat, but I am going to miss cheese. I really want to do this 100% and hope to complete it. I'm kind of nevous about after it's over. I fear that since I don't have lots of weight to lose or lots of health issues that I won't notice a big change. I am looking forward to this challenge and hope to learn new things along the way. Thanks

lbh032460
good morning, well day 4 and doing good. Last night we had a banquet to attend and wasn't thrilled about going. I called ahead and found out they would have a salad selection so I brought some avocado, black olives, boiled egg and balsamic vinegar in my purse. Thank goodness I did because the salad was lettuce. No cucumbers, tomatoes....just lettuce. They had tables of amazing food, desserts and breads. I passed on it all and did great. I think I was more bothered that I couldn't have a cup of coffee with cream and sugar. I really, really am missing that. I drink it black but don't enjoy it at all. Hope you do well today and over the weekend.
Onedawgval
Half way done with Day 4. i had an early lunch so i decided to eat a mini meal. not sure what mini means but i had about 2 ounce of chicken with a cup of spinach and 1/3 of an avocado with some oil and vinegar. I think that works. fridays are usually laid back and we are going to see an outside concert later this evening so i wanted to be prepared. I'm not sure what to expect from the weekend. I'm usually pretty busy (running errands, doing laundry, etc) that i normally only eat one or two meals. My 2nd meal is pretty much anything I want. It's what i consider my "cheat" day. Anything goes. Not sure how i'm going to survive. Sick of eggs and starting to get sick of veggies! Might make some spaghetti squash - yum! I'll keep you posted and hope you do well over the weekend. lbh032460
I got home tonight and fixed sausage (venison that we had processed) with onions, peppers and mushrooms. This weekend I am going to attempt to make ketchup and mayo. I think I'm going to try some kind of sweet potato hash with onions and sausage. I need to get some more choices for next week. I find I was eating to much fruit and eggs. Good luck this weekend.
Onedawgval
I am so sick of eggs! I miss my cheese in my eggs:( but trying to get past it. I'm going to try to find some different recipes. Sausage is on my list. I'm still unsure on portions so muddling my way thru. Going out to dinner and picked a Mexican place. Do you thing shrimp fajitas is safe? They probably use vegetable oil. How bad do you think that is? Thoughts? Suggestions. Good luck with making ketchup. Let me know how that works.
lbh032460
Morning, made it through another day. Last night we got an invite to watch the LSU football game at my cousins house. Of course he had the usual party football foods, chips, dips, meatballs and sausage in BBQ sauce, carrot cake and cheese cake for dessert. They made shrimp tacos just like the ones at Bonefish grill (bang bang shrimp) and I don't know if you have ever heard of them but they are incredible. I had made a sweet potato dish kind of like a hash or hash brown with sausage, onions, sweet potato and apple yesterday so I brought a container with a baggie of dried apples and almonds. I ate my stuff and the only thing I took from the party food was 2 baby carrots. I wasn't that bad but when I got in the car I couldn't believe that I didn't mess up. I really wanted to eat. I couldn't make my ketchup because I had bought dates that had sugar as an ingredient. seems like sugar is everywhere. I guess I need to go to a place like whole foods to look for the dates. How did you make out at dinner? I think the fajitas would be safe as long as you didn't use the flour or corn wrappers. Now I need to start thinking about what I will be eating today. Good luck today.
Onedawgval
We have to relish in our small victories. Good for you for not caving in at the football party and staying clean:)! Survived my first weekend. Yay for me:). I spent my Sunday shopping and prepping for the week. I bought some chicken sausage that is gluten free, no hormones added and no nitrites or nitrates added. It is supposed to be all natural and i think it is Whole 30 Acceptable. THe ingredients show some sugar but when you look at the nutritional information - it's not listed. I assumed it's so minor which is why not listed under nutritional data? I cooked some asparagus, red onion and mushrooms in Ghee oil to have with my eggs this week along with the Chicken Jalapeno sausage. Delish! I really hope this sausage is compliant because it could literally get me thru the month! Have a good day!

Onedawgval
I don't know. I broke down and bought "It starts with food". this should help me from making any more rookie mistakes. I have bursitis in my knees and would love to have zero pain after all of this. Hope you are hanging in there!
lbh032460
Day 9, going real good. It feels different today. First, I was actually looking forward to my coffee this morning. I never thought I would say that and I seem to have extreme energy today. It is very noticeable. I went to costco and got some new stuff so I'm excited about have new things to eat. I bought salmon, cashews, asparagus, organic raisins and a few more fruits and veggies. Made a big salad for tonight. I hope I feel like this tomorrow. Let me know what you think of the book. I don't have it but my cousin does and I could probably borrow it. Hope you did good today.
