Newbie: Day 4 and I'm exhausted!!!

I started this lifestyle change September 1st and I am exhausted. I had a full 9 hours of sleep last night and I am still sleepy!! Since I've started, today was the first day I have experienced sleepiness. After reading blogs and other comments I now know its normal. I wish there was somthing I could do! Is anyone else feeling this way?!

Hi ShaeLynn! Day Four here as well! I just posted my introduction, so you can read how my last four days have gone if you'd like, but I'm having the same problem. The weird thing, though, is that I will get these weird bursts of energy at times that are kind of unusual for me, so the whole energy thing is very up-and-down. I know we're all different and this too shall pass, but like you, I wish I could "fix" it! I had a cup of coffee yesterday at work at about 3 PM, which I NEVER do but I HAD to to literally keep my eyes open. And it didn't even faze me, really. ARGH!

Otherwise, I hope you're enjoying the process! Having food that is both healthful and yummy makes a big difference! I can't complain about a WOE that lets me have my coffee (!!!), chili, homemade REAL mayo, etc. :D

Yes - your desk will look like a beautiful place to lie your head and sleep.  This is pretty standard for a few days as your body changes fuel from sugar to fat. 

 

Things that can help - include a starchy veggie into your next meal - squash, pumpkin, sweet potato, carrots (cooked!), beets, parsnips - basically you are looking for versions of squash and/or root vegetables.

 

Also make sure you are getting enough fat, and protein.  This is key.
