CAK911
So, I completed my first Whole 30 in June, and it was definitely a success. I went off plan for a few days owing to a cross country move, but I've now been back to almost on plan for a few weeks (not strictly Whole 30, but definitely paleo). I've been eating roughly the same amount. For the past 3-4 days, I've been STARVING. I've been eating a little more when my stomach starts growling. I also have been coming down with a cold. Is the cold making me hungry? Did something else weird happen to my body? For context, a typical day for me might look like this: Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs, 4-5 strips "clean" bacon, handful of cooked veggies (everything cooked in coconut oil) Lunch: large chicken breast cooked in clarified butter, 2ish cups veggies, cup of cherries Dinner: 1/3 pound chopped steak (burger), avocado slices, 2ish cups of veggies sauteed in coconut oil or clarified butter There's usually 1 serving of nuts in there, too, depending on if I'm still hungry at the finish of a meal or if I get hungry near the end fo the work day. I'd been really satisfied, but now I'm suddenly not. My weight hasn't dropped abruptly or anything. I did lose a pretty significant amount of weight during the initial Whole30, but since then, I've been losing at 3-4 pounds a month. So, what gives? befabdaily
It looks like you're hardly eating any starchy carbs. Try working a sweet potato in there somewhere. On days when I don't have anything like that at all I feel hungrier. As to why the change, who knows? It took until the middle of my 2nd whole 30 for the hormone that makes you hungry in the morning to kick in.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted August 15, 2012 Moderators Share Posted August 15, 2012 I occasionally experience increased hunger that lasts for a day or two before it goes away. I've never questioned what was going on, but just took it as something that might happen every once in a while.
CAK911
Alright, thanks guys. I won't overly worry about it. I was just concerned I'd done something that was sending my body into some kind of panic. I'll try adding the starchy carbs in a little more (I haven't been avoiding, I just don't think to buy them that often), and not worry about it past that.
