alissamb
Ok so I've noticed since I've started, I don't have as much energy to work out like I used to. I feel fine all day long, but when I go to work out I can't find the energy to give its all. I stop sooner and I'm usually dizzy. I thought by now that would pass. Today I had a small hand of nuts and two eggs prior to working out. Any reasons why and or advise?
Brewer5
What type of workouts are you trying to do? And how many times per week? What does a typical day of food look like for you? How much time is there between your pre-workout meal and your workout? How much sleep are you getting each night?
Moderators Tom Denham Posted September 8, 2014 Moderators Share Posted September 8, 2014 Some people become relatively fat adapted after two weeks of the Whole30, but some take longer. You may be taking longer. What you have been eating for the past 15 days has some influence. Eating a lot of high sugar fruits may slow fat adaption. Not eating enough starchy veggies like potatoes, winter squash, plantains - going low carb - can reduce your energy stores. Feeling dizzy can be related to not drinking enough water. We recommend 1/2 ounce of water per pound of body weight per day.
alissamb
So I generally eat one fruit a day, like an orange or berries. I had a banana today for the first time. I usually have zucchini ... Don't know if that is high carb? I've had maybe a few potato slices 4 different times in two weeks. On average my day looks like this: An egg, avacado, blackberries Turkey deli slices, salad with olive oil and vinegar Beef and cabbage Work outs are not extreme. Every other day or two. Mostly weights, but I'm just not able to exert myself like I was before w30 and when I do hiit ... I'm not able to last past the second cycle and when I get off I'm super dizzy. Where before I'd do 4 cycles and get off feeling good. Maybe I do just need to wait this out. Or maybe I need more calories? I don't know!
alissamb
I try to follow the rules on pre work out... No longer than 45 minutes. Sleep... Well. I get enough hours in. I usually call asleep around 10:30. Up at 1:30 am to pick up husband from work. Back in bed by 3am. Up again by 6 to get girls ready for school. Back in bed by 8am up again between 11am and 12p. Crazy I know but that is how it has to be for a whole. do you think that could be what is causing the lack of energy when working out???
GoJo09
When you say "an egg" is that literally one egg? And how much I'd the turkey and beef are you having? Because basically you're not eating enough - I probably eat your breakfast and lunch in one meal! You need protein to build muscle, don't skimp. And if you're lacking energy them you need to be eating more starchy vege. Plus it doesn't look like you're eating a pre- or post-wo meal in ADDITION to your main meals. Physibeth
If you are not using this: http://whole30.com/downloads/whole30-meal-planning.pdf to plan your meals I would start now. It will help a lot!
Brewer5
Agreed... you are not eating enough. Your sleep is erratic... that adds extra stress. Eat more food. Follow the template, check out other people's logs (like mine, feel free to check it out), get an idea what a typical day looks like for other folks who are lifting. Zucchini is not high-carb. Do you have a food log? If not, keeping one is a great idea -- especially if you are looking for feedback. Just say so. Also -- I am not one to recommend more fruit. If you feel you need more carbs, go with starchy carbs like potato & sweet potato.
