bacon with apple cider

Hello! This is my first post. :) I'm gathering ingredients and freezing all kinds of meals, hoping to start my challenge soon! (I'm doing it with my bf and our 14 month old will be too, since he eats what I eat.)

Anyways, today at whole foods I found bacon brined with apple cider, no sugar! Is that OK? Is cider cool? The bacon is new, I can barely find info online about it. It's made by Vermont smoke and cure. (Which is nice because I live in mass, so it's sorta local.)
